The air at the edge of town ripples for a moment before a small snapping noise rings out, a rift forming in the air, opening into a small 5-6ft portal. Out of said portal steps an Elf in odd armor. Their hair is black, contrasting to their paler complextion. Their eyes a piercing ice blue, a winter Eladrin by the seems of it. One hand holds a shortsword, writhing in arcane energy for a moment before its sheathed, the rift jn dimensions shutting behind him. *Morning Alaric! Morning guys. Nice intro. I don’t have time to rp right now but I just wanted to say hi.*
The air at the edge of town ripples for a moment before a small snapping noise rings out, a rift forming in the air, opening into a small 5-6ft portal. Out of said portal steps an Elf in odd armor. Yuri looks over and audibly gasps "ZENIX!!!" She misty steps over and tackles him in a hug, kissing him. "My beloved soldier, how are you?"
He seems slightly taken off guard at first, before laughing as he's tackled, "Hello Yuri, I am well. How are you?" He asks after returning g the kiss
"No, not really." His eyes are pitch black and sunken. Faint yellow irises can be seen. "When your soul isn't in your body, it does weird things. Had to put in a lot of machinery to keep myself alive. And don't think of trying to take it," he says, suddenly addressing Tatiana again, "it's down in a vault in Nessus, and it can't pass hands without my consent."
Yuri smiles "She's not watching right now. Look at my pupils." She points at her pupils, which are rounded. "When she is watching, the pupils of my eyes become cat-like." She chuckles "Its easy to tell."
"Ah, she must be trying to prepare. I'd like to meet her someday. It's nice to know who you're gonna kill." He grins. "I forgot how good it felt to kill again. Farms are one thing, but actually killing some stuck-up [gp]... it's the best feeling in the world."
She tilts her head, watching him carefully. "Do you hunger for the pain that destruction causes or simply just destruction?" she asks softly.
"Neither, really. I want to feel in control. I only kill when I deem it necessary, which means I haven't done it in about 10 years. Admittedly, I did have my machines tend the gardens, which is kind of close I guess, but killing people gives such a sense of... power. Like I could conquer the world. I choose my targets carefully. Honestly, I was gonna kill you until I found out you weren't actually in charge of your orders. I knew Tatiana was a threat, I just thought you were the bigger one."
"I am a threat to some but to you, I am a pest." She said and snapped her sharp teeth playfully. She looks away and sighs "Unfortunately, I'm not a bred Feywild child. Not as powerful as you. I was just given powers while you fought for yours with tooth and nail."
"Yeah, our ancestors walked the planes, eating gods, archfey, archfiends... my knife is made of their leftovers."
She blinks a few times. "Eat????"
"Yup. That's right."
"They... ate gods." She's stopped writing.
"They weren't like us. My people have been half-human for thousands of years. We've grown smaller and weaker as time went on, having to resort to ritual and rite to stay alive. They still persecute us for our ancestors' sins."
* oh, and baalz! I saw one of your characters was doing deforestation? How deep into the forest would you reccon they go and can I do a little thing?*
*I don't wanna make the situation over complicated, it just might tie into one of my characters*
*Oswald has topped deforesting, and he only went deep enough to build a giant power plant and two monumental factories. The forest is... fine. You could probably see the smokestacks from any point in the forest, but I'm sure it's fine. Also, he replanted somewhere else.*
*hmmmmm*
Periodically, workers and automatons go missing in a certain area of the forest, unable to touch about a 200ft circle without becoming collateral damage from something in there
(Introducing a character I meant to use back in October but life got complicated)
Strange things have been happening recently ever since the harvest festival. The townsfolk have been on edge and several men seem to have been conducting some shady business. A farmer has reported that his horses have had trouble giving birth, a skeleton has been seen dancing along the hills and highways, a farmer’s scarecrow has disappeared, and a butcher shop has been robbed of all its sausages multiple times. An odd tree spirit has shown up to warn of the arrival of a strange being. Recently, an unconscious police officer has been found laying sprawled in a gutter. He seems to have suffered some serious injuries and is now being held in the hospital.
It is late at night, the moon is full and bathes the fields and forest with cold light. The wind creeps through the branches and fields chilling the bones of all who have no home or hearth to warm them. On the outskirts of town a group of dark figures have built a bonfire on a hill. A smaller cluster of men are standing beneath a craggely old dead tree. The sound of shovels cutting into cold earth and scraping away frozen dirt can be heard coming from the group.
Yuri watches from afar, her green eyes turning into pitch black orbs as she watches.
You can hear then men speak in voices hushed in the manner of those who know they are doing something forbidden.
"Are ya sure this is the right spot?" says one voice.
"This is exactly where the ol' beldam told us to dig. If it ain't here, it ain't anywhere." says another.
Yet another voice speaks up, "Quiet you, if she hears you doubting her word she'll set her husband on you. You saw what he did to that policeman."
"I still fear bad about that," says the first voice again.
"He would have arrested us!" says the second, "Now if ya don't shut yer trap we'll bury ya hear once we find it."
Yuri is going to cast Invisibility on herself and saunter over, watching each of them closely.
You successfully approach them and you remain unseen.
"How much deeper do ya th--" the first man's voice is interrupted by the sound of his shovel hitting something solid. All three men freeze suddenly and as you peer into the whole along with the rest of the men you see a patch of white protruding from the dirt. One of the men bends down and carefully extracts the object from the soil, brushing it off to reveal a pale white horse skull. They stand silently and stare at it.
You hear the sound of something swoop overhead. The men don't seem to notice as whatever was flying lands in the darkness of night and begins to approach them behind their back.
She watches before looking overhead at what is flying above. She tilts her head and begins to hum a light melody. (Gonna need all of them to make a Wisdom saving throw.)

Ophelia is taking this all in, and trying to work out how's she's going to write about it. "I didn't know how... unique you were."

The moon's light reveals that the thing approaching the men appears to be an old woman. She is dressed in rags with a red headscarf and she grips a broom in her hands. Her face seems odd, her smile is unnatural and unnerving but the shadows make it hard to make out why. "Well done lads, you did well in digging up our queen." she speaks in a rough, high pitched voice causing the men to jump in surprise and turn around.

The whole realm of (insert the world's name here) is largely unaffected by warp storms in the region of (insert the space sector the story takes place in). that is, until a warp rift opens up in it's orbit. out of the warp rift comes a heavily damaged ship of unknown design. it hangs in orbit for awhile, then, something blasts from the side of the ship that faces the planet, headed straight for the area nearby the forest. it crashes to the ground, smoldering.

*i'll be on tomorrow, until then, it stays closed, nothing moving*
Many people investigate, but no one is able (or really tries for that matter) to open it.
