The man giggles. "How do you feel about cultists? Like the ones that wear masks like these?" He opens a drawer and pulls out a stack of cracked, blood-splattered masks, resembling exaggerated human faces.
He picks up one of the masks, “the cultists are a remarkable people, always up to something. Don’t taste good though.” The corners of his mouth twitch upwards behind his plague mask.
"Well, not if you don't cook em' right!" The man laughs.

“What’s your favourite style? I love them barbecued.”
"I like em' fried, but the rest of the crew doesn't care for that. They like barbecued as well, since it gives them a chance to use all the spices granted to us by this godawful country."

An automaton strides up to the Inn. They are dressed in high-quality apparel and clearly represent the Church in some way, with a Heretic servant following behind, the dumb human staring at the ground waiting for orders. The automaton seems to have a lot of thought put into their design, being highly intricate and seemingly able to do almost anything a human body could do, if not more.
It takes a seat gently at a table, an easy smile plastered on its white marble and gold face.

*Cool! Also, I have a little tidbit for you, since this was so good and it might be relevant to your character: Bound Heretics wear white clothes that cover most of their bodies, belted and strapped on with pale leather. The white represents the fact that they have been "purified," but it also represents the fact that they are a blank slate that, like their clothes, is easily stained. They were inspired by the clothes lepers wore in the dark ages, but made more distinct*
A short, thin man enters. He wears the clothing of a gentleman, but he moves quickly and without any of the elegance you might expect from one. He approaches the innkeeper hastily. “I need a room,” he whispers. “Quick.”
He laughs which sounds like an angry crow, “It’s best if the sauce is done right. The names Hubert.”
"Zoffnir. Nice to meet ya. Ya want some food, a room? We got whatever ya need."
"Nice to meet ya too, ill take a room." He then does an over the top bow "Thanks for your service"
Zoffnir pulls out a slip of paper and signs it. "You got a hero card, coins, something to barter, or are you planning on trading services for room and board?"

“Right. Let me just —“ he pulls out a small, silver coin with a screaming face etched into it. “Oh, this — no, no, you wouldn’t be interested in this.”
The man puts the coin away. Despite his apparent disinterest in the coin, he’s obviously hoping it will catch the innkeeper’s eye.
