Note: I'm not advocating direct and complete plagiarism but rather imitation which is the greatest form of flattery!
I'm a huge fan of the layout of the D&D Beyond gazetteers. The Wildemount guide, and BG gazetteers are so simple, neat and easy to use. So I am trying to do something similar for my Homebrew world, but I am no HTML/CSS expert. I've limited proficiency in it (understand WAMP, can do some PHP programming). But what I am seriously lacking is understanding the CSS structure to build a simple web page with the lovely automatic contents side bar they have on the left. That is what I am trying to copy - the style and function of that contents sidebar.
Does anyone here know enough CSS that they could knock up a dummy page, with the automatic sidebar working, and share it with me? I don't need detailed CSS for general look and feel of the main page - it's the functionality of the sidebar I just can't get my head around.
Or anyone point me to a tutorial which would explain it - without having to learn CSS from scratch (which perhaps I ought to do anyway!)
The only tool I can offer is World Anvil, which can do something similar to what you’re asking — you can have a public webpage with a similar (but distinct) layout to the official books. You might also find success with The Homebrewery or GMBinder, if you want a PDF with an official—looking layout.
