Cog is in the T.O.M, writing books while the short peace lasts.
Faltros is animating some statues, creating the first gargoyles. They will perch on his palace.
Arsendir floats into the T.O.M.
”hi, Cog… have you thought about my idea?”
He turns around. "Your idea was the special guard force, correct?"
“Yeah. What do you think about it?”
"It is an interesting idea. Although currently there seems to be a peace in the city, after I infused the divine energy into the wards. But once issues arise once more-- and sadly I doubt they will stop-- I will assemble it."
“Alright. One more thing… I think I could really help this city, so I have a question. Could I join your mythos of order?”
He thinks to himself. "I shall ponder your offer."
“Thank you, Cogintius. What are you writing?”
"I am simply cataloging knowledge of the world. Maps, bestiaries, the nature of Greater Wills, and other topics. I am attempting to cover as much subjects as I can in my free time."
“Interesting. What have you discovered about greater wills?”
*so I’m thinking, ‘wouldn’t it be cool if Time passed faster so we could have more of a sense of progression in this world?’ Because despite this thread’s 417 pages, it has taken place over the course of literally just at most 3 years in game. So what if, every 10 or so pages, there is a timeskip where ten years pass. And every 100 pages, 100 more years pass, allowing for this world to gain some age. During the 100 year timeskips, people can talk about what their wills do as long as it isn’t really anything major to the plot, like establishing some new cities or creating forests or something else. Then, the thread continues as normal, with time progressing at this accelerated rate until the next big timeskip, where the same thing happens again. None of this can really become an official rule until Baalz comes back and approves it, but it’s just something I was thinking about.*
*that’s not a bad idea but might be a bit too general*
*what do you think would be better? I’m open to suggestions :)*
*i just feel like 10 years might be too long. Maybe take it back by a place value so 10 pages would be 1 year and 100 pages would be 10 years*
*that might work. With how fast this thread is going now that could be better. Maybe after a looot of pages there could be a 100 year timeskip. Like 500 or something. Or maybe not, still brainstorming*
*heeeey Gibber what do you think about these proposed rules maaaybe*
*That sounds cool. Although this thread is still pretty fast, while I'm not sure about the exact rate it is I feel like 10 pages as one year would still go by pretty quickly.*
*alright. What do you think would be a better rate?*
*Not sure. Although if I remember correctly the Cog v Faltros fight (second round, although this might apply to the first too) took over 10 pages, and I doubt they would be fighting for a year.*

*hey gibber, what’s the entrance to the underworld like?*
*In a barren wasteland far, far away from civilization, there's a black iron gate. This gate leads down to a staircase, a long, long, LONG staircase. It goes deeper and deeper underground, until eventually you're in the underworld. I might add a thing where residents of the underworld can get up and down the stairs much quicker then regular people.*

The Clutch Leader sits in front of a statue to Cogintius. He pulls out the blank pendant and the small knife. He takes a deep breath, remembering the words of his mother as he takes the knife to his claw. He begins to chant.
"The law is paramount. It is the mortar that holds the stones of civilization together, and it must be respected."
He makes a cut onto his hand, blood slowly pooling from the surface, before it slowly begins to change, turning into a brilliant golden color.
"My word is my bond. Without loyalty, oaths and laws are meaningless"
He lets a few drops of this golden blood fall into the small glob of paint he has prepared, which glows a brilliant gold as well. The Dragon take a brush and dips it into the paint.
"I must be willing to do what needs to be done for the sake of order, even in the face of overwhelming odds. If I don't act, then who will?"
The dragon begins to paint divine runes onto the blank pendant. As the runes are set, they glow with divine energy. The dragon's eyes also begin to glow.
"I must deal with the consequences of my actions, and I are responsible for fulfilling my duties and obligations."
The Dragon takes the holy water and pours it onto the pendant, which begins to pulse with energy. Soon the symbol begins to transmute, forming a holy symbol of Cogintius.
"This oath I speak, with truth and conviction. In dedication to the cause of Cogintius, God of Knowledge, and his sovereign rule of the City of Order, I pledge my life, and soul to him. To protect his people, fight his enemies, and serve until released from this oath!"
The Dragon roars out with conviction, as he and the holy symbol is flooded with divine power. Once the light has settled, he stands there wearing it around his neck, with two glowing swords of pure radiance floating one each side of him. He stands proudly, the first Paladin of the Crown.
As midnight strikes, a massive black tower rises from the center of the Hallowed Meadows of Tenebrous. Flying to the very top, Volumdremaak looks out at her kingdom, her heart heavy with the burden of all the suffering her subjects has endured. As her power reaches its next ascension, she unleashes all these feelings of loss and pain in one new and thunderous sound, The Roar of the Mourning Dirge. Her roar reaches all creatures within her domain, from the smallest of her drakes to her mightiest of champions and creations, and everything in between.
Her subjects look up, confused by this booming sound. But as they listen, their own hearts grow heavy. All their suffering and pain, their fears and anxiety, their losses and loneliness, their failures and shortcomings, every being both living and undead begin to feel these emotions start to bubble to the surface. And not just their own, for as they begin to weep, mourn, cry out for their own pain, they begin to feel the pain of others around them. Many try to bury these feelings, but they are so much to bear alone.
Then, as the Night Mother's Roar reaches it's peak, the first shift of emotions happen. A mother, a refuge from the northern villages, and a lowly shade, once a man from the east, find themselves crying near each other, feeling the other's sorrows. The woman, desperate for some connection asks the shade why he cries so, even when no tears fall. The shade speaks of a life brutally taken, as monsters of fangs and fire strike him down as he tried to save his village even as it burned around him. The shade then asks the woman of her sorrow, to which she speaks of a husband and child lost to the harsh winter they could not endure, leaving her alone to burden their memory alone.
And while the two wept together, the conversation moved on to sharing their tales of their lost lives and loved ones. And soon, the crying turned to soft laughter and warm smiles as their sorrow lessened and was replaced by the fond and happy memories of those cherished moments. Their pain, having reached a cathartic release, made way for a celebration of those memories they could share, and the joys their lives, in life and undeath, could still bring even now. Soon, others began to join in, sharing their pains and remembering those fond moments in the past and the good memories and company they now share here in Tenebrous.
Soon the Mourning Dirge grew more triumphant and uplifting as the people began to celebrate their pasts, their present, and their futures, embracing the warmth and comfort of this empathetic bond they have all come to share under the Dirge of their goddess, their divine mother. For despite the differences of the living and the undead, they could all still feel, they could all still dream, they could all still hope. All deserved happiness, all deserved company, all deserve comfort.
All Deserve Peace. And Volumdremaak will guard for this Peace, with everything she has.
