Laughter turns the scroll over and draws a gold-tipped calligraphy pen and a bottle of high-quality ink from his bag. He begins to write.
Henryk Argus was among the greatest bards known to human and ghoul, and the best friend of an entity known as the Blacklight, which he wrote many songs for. The Blacklight was considered to be the God of Whaling by many, and was an immensely powerful creature, allegedly being a child of the Redlight itself. Henryk's cylinders are powerful artifacts that can alter the world around them by changing the weather, summoning monsters, and god knows what else.
Henryk himself disappeared after three powerful abjurers, all dead or undead by now, banished the Blacklight to a distant plane, from which it could never return. It is said that if all of the original Cylinders are played at once, it will bring back the Blacklight, who will seek vengeance against the world for rejecting him. There is so much more to say, but that is the basics. We must keep these artifacts out of the Empire's hands!
He rubs his fingers through the deep scars that mar his arms, "If all ya say is true, then we can't risk the Cylinders fallin' into the wrong hands. I've fought many a sea beast before and have done some whalin' myself. It's been awhile since I've been in a real fight, so I'd be willin' to lend my skills to the hunt." His gray face cracks into a wide grin brimming with sharp, shark-like teeth.
*Is Laughter actually Lupine in form, or is it just his mask?*
*He's a wolf-man! He's also got a wolf version of a Comedy mask*
Laughter's tail wags as he nods excitedly. His red eyes smile. He draws a velvet can from his bag. Henryk Argus: Flesh-Salt, reads the label.
*Okay, cool.*
Jonah's nostrils flare upon seeing the can, like he is sniffing the air, "What's that for?"

He opens it, revealing a wax cylinder inside, before closing it once more. Henryk named his cylinders after alchemical reagents. This is his 'song of healing,' if you could call it that. This is the original cylinder, wrought from ambergris and the Blacklight's blood. Nonmagical versions of this song can be found in expensive hospitals, as it soothes the mind and allows for rapid regeneration.

"So we already have one of the relics? Excellent." He rubs his grey, bald head with a broad fist, "Got any idea where the others might be? And is there anythin' or anyone we need to watch out for while we're huntin'?"
“OI is anyone still below deck? If so, stop wastin’ time and help us defeat the kraken! You too ya poochie clown!” He smashes his bottle on the wall to create a sharp weapon for killing.

Odds are high that we'll have to hunt down the location of each of the creatures that banished the Blacklight, as they each made an attempt to collect them all. I believe there may be one of them on the ship. The captain is named Nathaniel Cairn, correct? Cairn was the name of one of the exorcists.

I was born to a poor fishing family in Italy. My house wasn't too far off from here, actually. The Empire picked me up after I showed myself to be a musical prodigy. I worked for them for several decades, and I used to love my job.
You probably shouldn't. I betrayed my last masters and stole grotesque amounts of money from them, which I will happily dole out to anyone who helps me on my quest. I'm somewhat desperate. The last two factions I dealt with didn't like my offer, me, or the fact that I wasn't offering everything I had.
I've (almost) always been a huge fan of Henryk Argus, and many of my songs are in the same style. I hate to imagine his work being used for evil. He made some mistakes, but he wasn't a bad person I don't think. I cried when I realized he was still working after he disappeared. He came out with Moon-Silver after he went missing, and to this day it is the most heart-wrenching song I've heard. He poured his soul into it, forgiving the exorcists for the loss of his best friend. It's his most popular song to this day. Even if you don't know him, if you've heard a song you've probably heard this one.

Lycanblood. It would have ruined me if it were not for the Empire's "Artiste Collection Programme."

You learn self-control quickly when you work in the Imperial Courts. I haven't lost control in the last 20 years, but I came close when I heard what they were planning on doing with Henryk's music.

Am I just drunk or did a pooch just appear on the ship lads? Virgil takes another gulp of scrumpy, forgetting what he was on upper deck for.
