OHMIGOSH why have I not done this before!! I'm a warhammer superfan myself, collecting WAY more factions than i need to and playing games that i never finish on weekends *Sigh* you get my point.
Yes, yes I do.
First order of business, favorite faction?
If we're talking 40k, then tyranids no questions asked. I have a HUGE army, probably getting on 3000 points now.

The Steadfast Swords, 2nd Legion of the Legio Astartes.
Heralds of the Veiled Imperium, a miniscule force situated deep in the Veiled Region, The Steadfast Swords are led by their Primarch, Markell Anderson. Among the few surviving remnants of the once vast Legion, they stand a testament to the fallacy of the so called "Imperium of Man". Markell, after seeing the destruction left by the Rangdan Xenocides, confronted the Emperor of Mankind, stating that Humanity shouldn't be biased towards the other sentient races of the galaxy, but instead try to coexist with said races. His last words to the Emperor were "If you can't see the reason of my words, then I can see no reason to stand by and watch these people suffer any longer". He then left the Imperium, taking his loyal warriors with him. Despite the Emperor's best efforts to erase him from existence, even he could not bring himself to kill one of his sons. Instead, the Emperor erased Markell's legacy from the records.
(don't kill me GW, or any of you other hateful critics)
I really like this, I feel like 40k needs an Astartes faction that is more traditionally 'good' that isn't either extremely xenophobic or given in to the forces of Chaos.
Opinions on my homebrew? Any ideas for additions, as it feels kinda bare-bones and vague as of now?

Although the community would definitely give backlash because it doesn't fit their grimdark eternal war game... buncha whiners...
Literally *I'm pretty sure* T'au lore got changed for that exact reason, because they were too good lol

Anyways, here's a homebrewed T'au Sept I'm working on (Septs are basically subfactions, but no mechanical stuff, just lore and aesthetic). Just a first draft.
Fei'kira Sept
Fei'kira is a tidally locked planet, meaning it stays in a perfect spin and orbit with it's sun so that only one side ever faces it. Fei'kira is a deathly hot desert on one side, and a freezing cold tundra on the other. There is a ring around the center that is the perfect temperature, and due to the planet's orbit, the twilit sky casts eternal half-darkness over the habitable zone. The ground is rich with minerals and metals such as gold, which is a common color the sept uses to display marks of rank. The more gold coloring a Fei'kira sept member bears, the higher their rank. The color most common to their uniform is black, to allow for easier hiding in the eternal dusk of the life-sustaining parts of the planet. Their main combat philosophy relies on a balance between stealth and lightning fast charges, the latter as either a destructive force or a distraction to set up a surprise strike from behind.
maybe add a few characters?

Good idea, maybe I'll write a bit about the discovery of Fei'kira, perhaps it was originally dismissed as uninhabitable due to it's tidal lock, but one brave commander took his troops and lived there for a full orbit cycle to prove otherwise, living off the land and fending off dangerous creatures all the while

Fei'kira was originally discovered by the T'au with no living species on it other than hardy plants, which formed large swaths of jungle similar to the ancient rainforests that old Terra once had, and dangerous creatures with no signs of any basic intelligence. Due to it's dangerous wildlife, and the two uninhabitable wastelands, the T'au dismissed it, and continued on. The brave Commander Tura'sha saw the strategic value of the system as well as it's lush ring, and was determined to prove it to be habitable. When he brought his proposition to the leaders of the expedition, they merely scoffed at the idea. His pride hurt, he took his battalion of 100 elite soldiers and left to the planet's surface to prove his point, telling the fleet he was staying until a full orbit cycle had passed, and refused to step foot on his ship until that time passed. The cycle was long, and the planet was brutal, but after a full orbit, the fleet returned to find him with not a single warrior lost. After that, the high Ethereal leading the fleet immediately declared it would be better to establish a colony on this world and risk it's dangers than it would to pass it by, and that if a man as great as Tura'sha said it, it was truth.
In modern times, the T'au have a well established colony on the world, with large cities and mines to harvest it's underground riches. The citizens of the cities have adapted to the perpetual half-light of the planet's life-sustaining ring, and even prefer it to "normal" planetary rotation and day/night cycles. Outside of the cities, there are rangers, keeping dangerous beasts from ever reaching the cities.

One of the reasons I like tyranids so much is the fact that you can invent the most outlandish colour schemes and they just... work on tyranids.
