That would make sense. Another thing to think about is a goal. What sort of purposes does this coven work together towards.
Do you have any possible theme ideas? The first few that pop in my head are mountains, reptiles, insects, desert, poverty, famine, art, music, trolls, five senses, or garden life. These are all super random, I'm just shooting out ideas.
Also most covens need at least three members. It could be fun to experiment with more though.
I was thinking maybe something like times of day or different forms of art. Each witch could specialize in a different type of magic related to one of those things.
Different forms of art would be easier, but different times of day is intriguing.
Yeah I got the idea from Baba Yaga’s three horseman, which control the times of day in her forest.
any other ideas that could be a coven theme?
That's from Kobold's Press right? Not from actual mythology, unless I'm mistaken. I just want to make sure because if it is from mythology I have to go and research it immediately.
Nothing is occurring to me for a particular theme right now. The times of day theme is cool, how would it manifest?
The horsemen are actual parts of mythology, forgot which story they came from. (I think it’s the one with the girl with the talking doll sent out to fetch a fire from Baba Yaga, could be wrong)
not sure. Random idea if we do go with the times of day theme, the “leader” of the coven changes with the time of day, along with how powerful they are.
Moonshining is exactly what I was thinking. I have had a strange desire to play a moonshine character recently and this seems perfect.
One more question (probably), what about lycanthropes? How do they fit into this world?
I came up with how werewolves worked a long time ago, even before I worked on the setting.
They're hillbillies (or mobsters) pretty much by definition. They group up in families led by the eldest in the group, and they only infect creatures that marry into it. Their transformative venom is a gift from Volstadt, their patron Vice Chef, who they serve by holding barbecues using the animals (or, rarely, people who threatened the family) that they hunt.
They are more likely to use firearms than just claws and bites, and they use knives, barbed wire, chainsaws, and whatever else they want. They're immune to nonmagical damage, so who's gonna stop them?
I think I remember you writing about this awhile ago. It is a creative use of the cannibalistic and marital traits often associated with rednecks along with the general culture.
Now I have to decide which to use. Thanks for the information, you have sweet lore in more ways than one.

I haven't ever read a version of the Natasha story with the horsemen in it. I clearly have some research to do.
Would the other witches change as well, or would there be two dawns at one part of the day and two dusks at another? Also, what parts of the day will be used? Morning, Noon, and Night is typical and would probably be the best to use. It should be taken into account that there are other possibilities, for example the Jewish way of thought follows that a new day begins at sundown.

It might not have been in that story, not sure. Think they were mentioned in the YouTube Channel Monstrum’s video about Baba Yaga.
morning, noon, and night probably make the most sense. I’d imagine that it would work something like this, assuming there are three witches: morning witch is most powerful in the morning, and weakest at noon. Noon witch is strongest at noon and weakest at night. Night witch is strongest at night and weakest at morning. They would each have three different power levels, most powerful, least powerful, and one inbetween phase.
another idea if we don’t want to do times of day could be the horsemen of the apocalypse. (War, famine, plague, and death)

Monstrum is great. I love their videos.
That sounds great. My brain was making a complicated mess and that simplifies things quite nicely. Is there a particular one you would like to play?
I have already roleplayed two horsemen here, The Grim Sweeper and Pestilence. I haven't fleshed out the others so if you wanted to create one that would be cool. Making a whole new set of horsemen would be fun, but I don't have the energy for that right now.

Maybe Morning. I feel like they could focus on creature summoning (as well as like, light magic of course) because dawn is often a symbol of rebirth and stuff.

Okay, feel free to pick whichever you want. I like the idea of using the connection dawn has to rebirth.
I might pick Night. That one feels so broad though. The huge amount of material will make it hard to decide on a single character design. Hmm...
Guess what kind of horror I had an idea for? That’s right! An Eldritch one!
My Eldritch Horror takes the form of a combination of deep sea bugs and crustaceans, covered in claws and exoskeleton. Essentially, he exists and is given form from the fear of humanity. He started as a mutant of pollution and a failed merfolk ritual, but eventually grew into a local legend after sabotaging a fishing ship. After this, his power started to grow exponentially as the stronger he got, the easier he could strike fear in someone. He evolved into a small part of mythology as a demon of the sea, and after that he grew to become a monster god of the deep sea. Now, he hopes to start an apocalypse or something so he can grow to planetary and universal levels of power.
Essentially, he lives off of fear, and it gives him power, the more people that fear him, the closer he gets to godhood.

My name’s Gradius, this is my second account :P I love Hollow Knight and I have been on ddb for a while. Come rp with me anytime! It is my purpose. My title that was given to me by Drummer is…SPIRIT OF THE WEST, GUARDIAN OF THE HOLLOWS.
No cost too great. No mind to think. No will to break. No voice to cry suffering. Born of God and Void.
So, I thought of a thread idea (let me know if it's been done before). We have threads set in various sort of biomes or temperatures, like the Bloody Barnacle in the ocean or Button's Best in the hot desert, so then I thought-- what about a frozen thread? The world plunged into a new ice age, little warmth left in the freezing wasteland.
It's a very, very basic and small idea, but I feel like sharing it with y'all. If I continues through with this, I'll flesh it out a ton and eventually release it. (Help is welcome with brainstorming this)

Locations are dead, the Temple of Potassium has fallen but its ideals live on
That sounds pretty awesome. There should definitely be some tribe of people who have adjusted to the cold. Like the Freman from Dune.

So I expanded a bit on the whole frozen world idea.
Some supernatural force is behind it. One or two gems (if two, I'm gonna place one at each pole of the earth) are somehow emanating pure frost throughout the entire world. And those people who think they can break the gem(s)? Yeah, good luck with that. The closer you get the colder it is, to the point that even the creatures most adapted to the cold become frozen statues when they get too close, so you aren't gonna be able to swing a sword out it without becoming a popsicle. You're stuck in this ice age forever.
There are people who have adapted to the cold, split up into different tribes, but there also is monsters that have as well, such as Yetis and White Dragons and potentially even new monsters. The tribes are identified (besides name and culture, of course) mainly by two different beliefs:
1. Best way to avoid (or embrace) the cold. One tribe is dedicated to taking over all of the land with the warmest spots, while another is composed of ice mages dedicated to harnessing the cold's strength.
2. How they deal with monsters. One tribe might hunt them for sport and food, while another tames them as companions (not pets or familiars, more side by side).
A general rule of thumb on the land is that the further you get away from the crystal(s) is a better land to live in, as it's slightly warmer with the least harsh temperatures. (If I do the two poles idea, the ideal place would be the equator) Tribes might fight for land in a hope to stay warm.
And that's all I got for now.

ever heard of the Good Place? It’s a show that’s basically like the perfect afterlife for everyone in these little communities of 322 people, except the people who run the afterlife somehow made a mistake and now someone who isn’t supposed to be there is there and now stuff is starting to go haywire.
My titles are the great Silver Dragon Lord of the Sky, Second in Command of the Dragon Cult, High Warlock of Cynophobia, High Cultist of Jeff, The Lightning Mage. I’m a ✨Chronically online teenage boy✨, and one of the most active posters on the forums (MORE THAN SALEM AND GONZALO). Always open to talk if you’d like to shoot me a PM! Please don’t hesitate to tell me I’m being a jerk or overbearing, I love helpful feedback! Love y’all!

To expand even more, I've made various tribes. Now that the world building is practically done, it's time for me to figure out where the thread itself is set in the world. Currently I'm thinking a tavern/inn is best-- it would be a place where various tribes come together, trade resources, have a nice meal, so on and so forth.

I was told this was a good place to get feedback on taverns. Soooooo:
I’m thinking of starting a nightmare themed tavern. The innkeeper is a gargoyle who brews dreams into drinks. Feral werewolves claw at their mugs, a fiery demon caresses his blazing hellhound. We have high quality flame retardant stalls outside, and rest assured, your mount will be taken care of (Nightmare? Skeleton Horse?). We also have a selection of luxurious rooms and suites, and room service comes with the purchase of the VIP card (for a reasonable 5 gold). We accept all character types here: hellhounds, demons, werewolves, zombies, cosmic/eldritch entities and aliens, dreamwalkers, necromancers and dark sorcerers, the resurrected, the drowned, just to name a few.
Hows that selling? Any thoughts? It’s a work in progress, I’ll definitely want some suggestions and may be accepting a mod.
