He leaps back with a spin, summoning illusions of horrifying specimens in jars. Little manifestations of unspeakable guilt and deep fears. He stops moving mid-air, shadowy tendrils emerging from his sleeves and shirt collar. "I want to help my fellow sinners understand their torment and come to an understanding of their regrets and traumas, facing their sins head-on in a way that won't immediately kill them! Isn't that such a wonderful idea? And I get to go on adventures whenever I want with whoever I want!"
"Mm.." she places a hand on her chin, thinking. "Dear, this seems like it would harm rather than help."
He drops down, the illusory jars disappearing. "Oh, but that's the point, my dear! It will hurt so much that they'll have to deal with the problem instead of letting it fester forever! Or, of course, they could just suffer needlessly, but that rarely happens! I've turned more lives around than I've ended, so I think that's a pretty good track record for someone in hell!"
"Are you trying to become someone better? Like becoming redeemed?" She asks, fixing her skirts.

He grins even wider. "Oh, of course not! That would be selfish of me! But I do have ulterior motives, don't worry. Like everyone else, I'm down here for a good reason. Of course, unlike most people, it was my very deliberate choice, but that's barely a footnote in the grand scheme of things, isn't it?"
"Well, my father was always caring, same as my mother. But I always felt like I wasn't enough for him. Around when I turned 19, my sister was born. All of his attention went to her, leaving me on my own, but my mother still showed me attention."
"Is that why you hate him? Because something came along and took his already small amount of attention away from you?" He asked, messing with their feathers.
"Maybe. It may also be because of how he treated my mother. Who was always there for me."
"Perhaps." Xan said "Like I said, you should talk to them, figure out both sides of the story. I know you don't want to, but it could help."
"The thing is, I don't really know how to start. To make that first step to reach out to my father."

"Well, I must try..." thinks for a moment. "Thank you for talking with me. I don't really have friends, let alone one's I can talk to about things like this. Perhaps you could be one?"

He nods back. "If you're ever interested in going on a wonderful, one-of-a-kind adventure, I'll be getting chased around the Pillow Fort by security! Toodle-oo!"
He skips away to the elevator and presses a button, rocking back and forth on his heels.

Xan kisses his cheek "But of course. We in lust may be deviants but we understand feelings can't be forced. If you ever need someone to talk to, talk to me or Amoretta."

Hours later, the Conductor Demon is celebrating at the Cornucopia with several distressed and groggy-looking demons. "C'mon, bud! You need some food in you!" He's feeding an imp with a thousand-yard stare. "Facing off against your own personal demons burns a lot of calories! How are you gonna win next time if you're weaker than before?" The imp looks up at him and nods, slowly, shakily taking a bite of the pizza the sinner is holding, tears running down his face as he chews it.
"Thank you all for signing on for a full expedition! It really means a lot when you folks come back for another night on the rails with me!" About half of them nod.
