 *Basically, the character found a mysterious ring in the middle of nowhere that magically gave them a lot of riches, fame, power, etc. But it comes with a price-- their mind is shattering, and an ancient devil/demon trapped inside the ring is preparing to take it over.

It sounds like LoTR, but I was actually more inspired by Andvari from Norse mythology. Thing is, I've only thought of, like, one idea to make it unique-- which is the devil thing, but then it just feels like a LoTR copy. (Sentient ring corrupting it's wearer's mind)*

 *well the thing about that is LoTR was partially inspired by Norse and Celtic mythos but if you want it to seem different i would personally make ot more like a deal with a fey*
