i’ll start back again on Here Be Dragons tomorrow, though, as well. But I’m having a lot of free time right now :>
Sweet, but don't push yourself if you got things on your plate. I would be interested in playing in this witch campaign though.
I don’t really have anything besides school until march, which is when I start up rowing again. Which is why I’ve been able to do so much stuff. Hopefully I won’t be too overwhelmed, but I’m roleplaying a bit less which means more time for play by posts. but thanks for caring!
alright! Baalz actually already has a character sheet, lol. Only major restriction is you have to be a caster. Starting at level 5. (Half casters and stuff like eldritch knight and arcane trickster are alright as well.) Baalz is playing as an actual hag, since he has a class for that. In addition, I’ll be using a fun little system which I’ll be fleshing out later for you guys to do all of the fun witchy things that the mechanics won’t let you. Basically, lets say you want to perform some sort of ritual or curse someone, you tell me the general idea you have for the ✨process✨ of casting the curse, like burning a lock of hair and then a bushel of belladonna berries or whatever, your intent for the spell, and I’ll either translate it into game effects or help you workshop what else you might need, how you could make it more powerful, that sort of ✨stuff✨.
Alright. Maybe I could try a warlock, either fiend or undead.
Sounds cool! Remember, it takes place in Salem, Massachusetts, the real world, so you could draw inspiration for patrons from actual mythology and lore.
I was looking through the demons of the Ars Goetia for ideas for patrons.
Those would be perfect, and you’ll have a lot of options, considering there’s 72 of them.
I've actually found a few that would fit a Fathomless Warlock very well as well; Focalor, Vepar, and Forneus. That could allow me to take on a bit of a lovecraftian vibe without going fully into that.
I could also use Ronove for an Undead Warlock, as they are sort of a grim reaper-like figure in the Ars Goetia and is relatively pacifist in regards to the affairs of demonic conflict. I could also just go with a more general pact with the Grim Reaper itself, acting as one of his soul harvesters.
Ooh, those all could work wonderfully. I wonder how your character would have first come into contact with a demon of the Ars Goetia…

I like your idea Arch, though I’m not sure if I have time to play and you have three players already. Are these like druidic nature witches or more like demonic or diabolic dark witches?
I get the impression that any of them work.
I'm playing a kitchen witch of all things, which is more on the nature side, but they are also a literal hag, which is more on the dark side.
Fascinating! I always thought the Salem witch trials were really cool. Even if I can’t play, I’d love to observe if you’re doing this in a public pbp.

Hey Jester, I finished Rag's weapon! Is this okay?
Weapon (greataxe), legendary
This massive greataxe belonging to the red dragon Ragnerious, grandson of Ragnaris the Wretched, flickers with an inner flame, it's golden hilt and platinum double blades gleaming brilliantly. The axe will shrink to match the size of its wielder, and cannot be used by any other by Ragnerious or one deemed worthy by him to wield it.
When you roll a 20 on your attack roll with this magic weapon, the target takes an extra 30 damage of the weapon’s type.
As a bonus action, you may cause the blade to bust into flames that deal an extra 3d12 fire damage and last for 1 minute. These flames shed bright light in a 30-foot radius and dim light for an additional 30 feet.
Charges. This greataxe has 40 charges and regains 4d12 - 8 expended charges daily at dawn. As a bonus action, you may expend some of its charges to cast one of the following spells: Aganazzer's Scorcher (5th level version, 3 charges), Aid (4th level version, 4 charges), Wall of Fire (5 charges), Fire Storm (9 charges), Flaming Sphere (2 charges), Fire Shield (3 charges), Flame Strike (6 charges), Fireball (5th level version, 7 charges), Hellish Rebuke (1 charge), or Heat Metal (2 charges).
Proficiency with a Greataxe allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Cleave. If you hit a creature with a melee attack roll using this weapon, you can make a melee attack roll with the weapon against a second creature within 5 feet of the first that is also within your reach. On a hit, the second creature takes the weapon’s damage, but don’t add your ability modifier to that damage unless that modifier is negative. You can make this extra attack only once per turn.

This is absolutely amazing, I’ll just need to put it on a doc or something so I don’t forget it. Thank you so much Agate, this might be too strong actually.
Ok, so, I wrote a story a while ago called the Sea Witch’s daughter. Whatever. And I made up a Cecaelia based race (based off because it doesn’t follow regular cecaelia lore) and there was the Sea Witch. She was amazing. If I make this into like an actual race can I play her????

Arch, Baalze, Coronet, and Himy I don’t want my campaign to die, unless yall are losing interest, which is perfectly fine, please remember that it does exist, I’ll continue with the occasional reminder though when things seem quiet.

Possibly. But do remember that this will take place in Salem, Massachusetts, and they need to be at least passable as human (or be able to disguise themself, Baalz is playing a green hag)

Yes, that’s one of the things with them only being somewhat cecaelian. They can shift to become human.

Wait a minute, I could play as an Illrigger instead of a Warlock and flavor it as gaining power from a demon. I might do that instead.

I'm so indecisive. Now I'm considering one of the homebrew classes I have, the Inquisitor. They are half casters.
Or one of the Subclasses from the Hexbound book, which are witch subclasses.
Or the summoner Class I have too.
