Concept: Merchant/healer from a culture that worships the concept of excess in and of itself.
Became a cleric for a corrupt church, only to discover that the leaders grossly and deliberately misinterpreted the word of their god in order to push their agendas, which were based around getting more wealth and power.
Now they are labeled a heretic despite the fact that they are drawing incredible power from their faith. They have little, and it's been ingrained in them that "the gods help those who help themselves," but they had their own idea that tacks onto that in an interesting twist: "A better world is better for me too," or, alternatively, "I am part of everyone, no matter what I own."
