hi vtl :sob: just wanted to appear to clarify that is not me, and while I agree with your takes that media has definitely gone downhill in quality (late stage capitalism funding live actions and sequels rather than investing in new content) I think that the prequels to Star Wars are peak. But I am a huge clone wars fan and it's a lot of nostalgia for me.
While you might see this: Hello, Cyno!
I realize we didn't talk much, but you seemed pretty... what's the word? Accepting, maybe? Basically, you tried to be kind, which not everyone does nowadays.
Except most people on here, honestly.
Hello! I try my best, I do fall victim to human emotions sometimes but usually I know enough to step away. Most of the time. I'm just here to talk about science (I love science)
I also love science, but sometimes science doesn't fully explain thing sometimes (Like gender)
Also, Cyno, textbook argument, you get an A+ in your arguing
Hello! Call me GAYto or Gato (Cat in Spanish) My pronouns are They/She (Prefers She/her) I am a teenager. I have ADHD, Depression, and anxiety. I'm also Genderfluid, Pansexual, Aromantic, Trans Androgynous, and Asexual, but this community means the world to me; you can't change that about me ALL HAIL O_MERLIN_O. 4D8 ATTEMPT:[roll]1d8[/roll] + [roll]1d8[/roll] + [roll]1d8[/roll] + [roll]1d8[/roll] = [roll][roll:-4]+[roll:-3]+[roll:-2]+[roll:-1][/roll] I have adopted Golden, Salem, and Aspen
Oh. I've only ever heard gender used as a physical thing; you know, girls can give birth, boys can't. But I'm guessing that's not how you see it?
Jumping in here (because I just had a genetics test today) but there are two scientifically separate forms of classification for sex and gender. There are more than 2 sexes and more than 2 genders, regardless of a government standpoint on what can be put on your passport. Being intersex (which varies in phenotype, you can be intersex and never know your entire life) is more common than being a redhead, fun fact. Anyways, gender is a social construct and a personal alignment with the sort of "gender roles" of the society you live in. For example, you could live in a country where being female means you have short hair and typically raise children but also handle work outside of the home, while men may be traditionally house caretakers. The definition of male and female in terms of gender changes drastically over history (blue becoming a "boy" color, stuff like that) and is closely linked with psychology and sociology. Sex is purely defined by your chromosomal and genital composition. There are multiple sexes in humans, the most common being XX Female and XY Male. A "female" may also be XXX and a few other combinations, which isn't very rare, as well as a "male" having more than just XY (sometimes XXY). There are also other factors that determine your genitalia development in the womb (fun fact, everyone always starts out with XX female parts and as they develop, if there is a Y present it will start promoting male genitalia growth). So in essence, some women can't give birth, some boys can, presence of a Y chromosome typically means an individual cannot give birth.
To answer your question though, being transgender essentially means that your gender does not match with your assigned sex at birth. This can be an intersex person wanting to be male, an XXX female wanting to be male, anything of the sort. Gender dysphoria is typically the diagnosis you would receive, but being transgender is natural due to how society functions, being limited to a "boy" and "girl" category doesn't always fit everyone, especially those born outside of a sex binary (such as intersex and whatnot).
This is also why medically, your doctors inquire about your sex rather than your gender. Seeing both as separate isn't a personal opinion, it's deeply rooted in science.
I can agree with all of that, I do not feel like any gender describes me
I can agree, I use what feels best but if there was an opportunity for gender to be less prevalent as a concept in society, I would love that. Gender is very confining.

As wrong as ever, per usual, but with the same poise and dramatic flare, as always.
Clone Wars is peak. I will give you that, lol.
What specifically was I wrong about? The collapse of modern media has several factors and I think money is definitely one of the major ones.
I believe that they were saying that they were wrong, not you
I was referring to the prequels being great. They…aren’t. Revenge of the Sith is the best one, but the bar is very low.
The sequels don’t exist so don’t ask me about them.
They have nostalgia factor! I like seeing the clones in live action. The plot is also good, I like the storytelling of the era so much more, the fall of the Republic is one of my favorite things to talk about. And science. I'm very normal.

Covens are groups of Magikerin that specialize in their own form of Hexerei. They are generally genetic, as most children inherit their mother’s Hexerei, but there are some exceptions (trans women, those special little sunflowers who don’t follow the rules of evolution, etc.). These exceptions must find their own coven (covenless Magikerin are frowned upon, as they generally don’t have a good education or grasp on their Hexerei), applying to them based off their unique Hexerei (apply is a stretch, if the coven doesn’t have an excessive amount of people or an ancient feud with your people you will be accepted).

I did state that this was my opinion. In response to the guy that said I am looking in the wrong places, I am looking at a wide spectrum of stuff. I never said there wasn’t good output, but that overall, industries like Hollywood and Disney aren’t putting out a lot of great movies or films like they used to.
Thats not saying that nothing they put out is good, but that most of it is pretty mid, in my opinion.
To the fourteen-year-old, I actually agree with you and think you might have misunderstood me. I, too, love Star Wars as a setting and universe. But I also think the prequels suck. Doesn’t mean we can’t have good stories anymore, which is why I mentioned Andor, as it is pretty sweet!
CGI/GFX budgets have been kinda lame recently, in certain spots. Transformers 1 is used a lot in comparison with The Flash movie or whatever. I think it is fair though. HOWEVER, I think it has more to do with the movie direction than actual CGI. DUNE is wonderful. But the people in charge of DUNE were more willing to create a better CGI budget and it shows very blatantly.
Personally, I thought this place was just where you can gripe about things, but I seem to have touched a nerve or two. My apologies. I am also pretty sure I mentioned at the end of my first post that these were my opinions. But if I missed that, then again I apologize.
Just trying to get a feel for the forums here.
You can have opinions all you want. We can also have differing opinions. For example, I think that idea that Hollywood and Disney being on a decline means that storytelling as a whole is on a decline is just silly. Those are two major hitters in the industry sure, but that doesn’t mean that all of storytelling is failing, because it doesn’t exclusively consist of American tv shows and movies. If you look pretty much anywhere else, you’d see that we’re actually on the up and up. Indie animation, video games, anime and manga, comics, novels. In the past few years (hell, even just this year) there’s been all kinds of major drops.

I struggle with empathy. If you’re not sure what I mean by that, it basically means it’s hard for me to understand the mental state of others and respond with the right emotions
And, quote the sources because I can't open many kinds of tabs
I couldn't find the video I was referencing but here is an overview of theory of what determines gender and sexual orientation (strongly correlates with hormone exposure during prenatal development) and this is the other paper (which I like more and has more graphs and data, though they experiment on guinea pigs because injecting pregnant mothers with needles is unethical).

Yo, I’m Himy, He/Him. I enjoy reading books, understanding why and how things work, anime/manga, video games and obviously, TTRPGS. I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I like to think Im close. I’m good at trivia, history and science
I struggle with empathy. If you’re not sure what I mean by that, it basically means it’s hard for me to understand the mental state of others and respond with the right emotions
Should be all the important bits. Sweet

Why not? (This isn’t me being self deprecating, I’m genuinely curious)
