Turtles are turtles

WE’RE GOING WEST TO EAST TO FIND THE STEEL BALL RUN!
They are beautiful beasts, their ribs extending far and wide to create a wonderful shell, their claws sharp and jaws ready. Some are pure land dwellers with very safe claws, but even larger bodies and powerful skin, the largest of such turtles on the Galapagos, pure giants, some reaching nearly 1000 pounds. Then we have the river turtles, clawed beasts of pure power, beasts made to be the hunter and to survive being the hunted. They retract into their shells just as the tortoises, with a few pathetic turtles going sideneck, a trait that is literally just being less protected. They have some of the most agile shelled beasts, like softshells, and some unmoving monsters, like the largest river turtle, an alligator snapping turtle, reaching 200 pounds. We also have the sea turtles, wonderful beasts that can outswim all other turtles, and are pretty much clawless. They have the worlds largest turtle, ten times the size of an alligator snapper, and double the size of the largest Galapagos Tortoises! The big issue with sea turtles is their mouth makes me uncomfortable.
And while triple checking I found out that the turtle on my driveway I once saw might've been an alligator snapper, since I live in Southern Ontario (I know, Canadian who complains about burning to death in the summer lives in Southern Ontario.)

I’m pretty sure alligator snapping turtles are endemic to the southwest US
Edit: I’m half right. They are endemic to the southeast US, not southwest. Only the common snapping turtle exists in Canada, specifically the southeast, which includes Ontario apparently
