Question, who would be interested in a thread revolving around people from history, myth and legends?
Bro just bring back the RFI, or anything of the like, I want to play mythological characters once more.
FATE, my friend, FATE
I would also be down for that, Gilgamesh, Sinbad, something of that like. You could also do God of Highschool.
Haven’t actually watched god of highschool
It’s pure squabbles, immaculate hands, and absolutely no plot.
You had me a squabbles
You should watch Record of Ragnorok too then.
Already have. The animation was pretty mid, but the fights were interesting. Plus, as a myth and history nerd, it was enjoyable to see the actual god of the sea duke it out with an old samurai who’s only notable quality was his loss.
Bro, stuff like Adam fighting Zeus was insane, especially because he dies minutes before he stopped fighting.
And Jack was putting in work for humanity. Ngl, he was kinda dogging Heracles

You say that like Heracles wasn’t subconsciously and consciously holding back against him.

The Holy Grail War. Also know by some as the Murder-Death-Kill (Because apparently Holy Grail War isn’t an accurate description) A time honored tradition where mages summon heroic spirits and horrific monsters of myth and legend and factual history to fight in a massive no holds barred battle royal, the winner of which (by which I mean the the last Master/Servant pair alive*) gets the Holy Grail, a magical artifact capable of granting any wish, regardless of how outlandish, morally questionable, or arguably stupid it is. For whatever reason, you’re here now, and you’re part of the War. This means you’re a Mage, someone capable of doing magic and summoning Servants through a ritual. If you did this ritual correctly, you are now the Master of a Servant, as mentioned above.
Each Servant falls into one of 7 classes and having access to a Noble Phantasm( More on that later) Those classes are Saber, Archer, Lancer, Caster, Rider, Assassin and Berserker. Saber Servants are Servants who are know for their skill with a blade. They are said to be the simplest class, yet also the most versatile and reliable. Archer Servants, contrary to their name, do not always fight using bows and arrows, as they can fight using any form ofprojectile weapon. Lancer Servants are similar to Saber Servants, having similar abilities. Their only difference is that instead of a sword, they fight with a pole arm, such as a spear, trident, glaive or bō staff. Caster Servants perform True Magic (different from what you Mages can do, I’ll explain later) as well as transform the area around them. Despite their name, Casters could be artists, writers or inventors from myth, legend or history. Rider Servants are Servants renowned for their steeds, riding mythical horses or even dragons, or perhaps riding in a chariot. Rider Servants come with their mount, kinda like a package deal. Assassin Servants are rouges and tricksters, using stealth and dishonorable tactics to gain the upper hand. These Servants are most likely to be Anti-Heroes, which are people who serve as a foil to normal heroes, and are remembered due to the fear they created and how they make the heroes seem heroic in the first place. Finally, Berserker Servants are Servants that are know for entering a battle rage, tearing enemies to pieces. Or as some may call it, “Going batshit insane”
Now, each Servant has something called a Noble Phantasm, which is their main power and weapon. This could be a physical weapon (such as a sword or spear) a support item or a more abstract power, such as curses or some other True Magicesq abilities.
When summoned, Servants are bound to this world by Command Seals, which appear as a small tattoo on the back of your hand. You have 3 of these, which you must use sparingly, as if you use them all, your Servant disappears, taking you out of the war. Each Servant has a True Name, which is the name they were known by in life. Revealing a Servant’s True Name is dangerous, as it may give hints on their powers and how to defeat them. If a Servant had a weak spot or character flaw, knowing their True Name would allow enemies to scour records and text to find that information, then exploit it.
Servants also have a few non combative abilities, such as disappearing into a magical mist, allowing them to be around their Master without being visible. While in this state they cannot interact with the world or be interacted with. They can also walk through walls. To blend into normal society, they can take an appearance more befitting of casual life, pretty much they can change their clothes from a battle attire to normal attire. To further assist with blending in, they gain all knowledge of information deemed relevant, including but not limited to: modern language and slang, cultural norms and taboos and stories about other servants.
Okay last thing. The difference between Magic and Magecraft. To preform True Magic, you must be beyond human, which you are not. Magecraft is the act of preforming acts that can be done by normal means in a miraculous way. The best way it can be described as the process be impossible, but the result is possible. An example is creating a a ball of fire. This could be done by setting certain materials on fire, but with magic, you don’t need those objects. Different people have different innate abilities with Magecraft, such as projecting certain objects into the world from your inner world, storing magical energy in objects and more. True Magic on the other hand is leagues more powerful than Magecraft, doing things that are impossible, defying the very laws of physics, by doing things such as gravity manipulation, messing with the flow of time, and creating something from nothing. Now, a third (or more like second and a half) kind of magic exists. These exist through objects called Reality Marbles. These allow you to project your inner world into a specific area, then closing it off from the rest of the world. This is similar to True Magic, but it can be done by anyone. Each Reality Marble has its own unique appearance and effect, causing it to be similar to that of a Noble Phantasm, but can be preformed by the master as well. In order to actually use a Reality Marble, one must go through deep introspection in order to understand their inner world.

Yo, what's up guys, how have you all been? I know I said I wouldn't be back for a long time, but a lot has happened over the last three weeks (wow, has it really been that short an amount of time lmao?) and a lot of the PbP campaigns I was active in have petered out for various reasons, so I thought I might as well put some of the time that would have been spent on there into coming here every once in a while! This isn't a full return at all though, I'm definitely not going to be as active as I used to be lmao, but I'll be on every so often to pop in and say hi!
To be honest, the real reason I came back is because I thought of the perfect thread idea, and wanted to see what people think! Please give me some feedback and say if you'd play in it, just so I can know whether I should put the effort into making it in the first place (though there's absolutely nothing stopping any of you from making this on my behalf if I decide not to, with proper credit of course!)
The thread name would be 'Anything Ghosts', (Anything Goests? Anything Goes-ts? Geddit?), and the thread premise would basically be that your character is a ghost, or closely linked to ghosts, and that's about it. You can literally be whoever you like, have whatever powers you want, and if you really don't want to be a ghost, you don't even have to do that, since you could just steal a mortal soul and possess their body permanently, or be a human exorcist/yokai hunter/medium/psychic! You can also just go and do what you like (within reason) around a world that you all collectively design, meaning you wouldn't be restricted to a tavern or a set story, it's just pure creative roleplay and storytelling! I had a few inspirations but honestly I just love the concept of ghosts in general, and because they can fit into so many genres I just wanted to make a thread where that's the basic foundations, and then the players can just run with it, play as many characters as they want and then have them do and be what they want as well!
I'll be sticking around here long enough to see some feedback, and then depending on the results of that, I'll either make the thread and get it up and running before heading out again or I'll see that not many people are super interested, so I'll just leave the idea for you guys to either make yourselves or just leave if you aren't bothered, and then I'll still head out again either way, though don't worry since I'll likely be back about Christmas!

I need y'all's opinion on who would be who in this picture. I personally believe that I'd be the yellow guy (if it was a good day) or the red guy (if I woke up and chose chaos), and... *trails off* You know what, never mind, I know with all my mind that Himy, Jester, me, and basically everyone else on here would be Red Guy.

Objectively incorrect and I'm offended you think so low of me. I’m either yellow guy or pink guy. Unless you’re colorblind and you think the pink guy is red

That sounds really fun! I’m trying to rejoin taverns, and this sounds like a really great one to join!

I have the exact same opinions as Elk.
Shiver, how do you have such amazing ideas?
Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.
May each word that I speak be backed by each of my teeth.
Thanks for the incredible response guys, I thought people would be unsure about it since it’s so broad but I’m really happy to see that people like it! Archfey even managed to reach out to me through PMs and say that they think it’s awesome and would love to join when they’re back, which I really appreciated! :) As for how I get such good thread ideas, I can’t say much aside from the fact that this particular idea has been brewing in the back of my brain for nearly a month, and so I guess I just had a while to reflect on it and refine it until it was as good as I was going to get it lol? Thanks for such a nice compliment though, it really means a lot since I worked hard on it!
