 "an emissary is one of His angels. the way I heard it, the emissary was fulfilling its function, and the harvest prince showed up, they got to talking, and the price burned the emissary to death, with its rotlings. the heart was all burned up when we found it"

 “Oh, wonder why the prince did that. What was the Emissary doing?”

He steps diagonally onto the path, making sure not to step on any insects or arachnids. He licks his long, eternally exposed teeth with his blackened tongue. "I am Gardziel Salt."

 She tilts her head. “You met my son, Amaris. He told me about you.” Arachnids scatter in as he steps onto the path.

”we’re making the best out of the situation… this is not my preferred location, but we can help.-… how rude of me, You may call me Mother Moth. It is a pleasure to meet you, Gardziel.”

 "I agree." He chuckles. "Mother Moth... not quite a name, but it will do. What won't do is you running out into the deep freeze without even a proper flame."

Adeline has returned to the burrow at the heart of the Silken Sanctuary, holding her woven creation in her arms as she looks for something. The walls of the den are lined with silk that has twigs and leaves and small pieces of bark woven into it, to which innumerable silk moth cocoons are attached. After a while of searching, she finds what she is looking for- a large enough spot along the walls of the burrow that isn't already occupied by cocoons- just big enough to add hers. She would be joining them soon.

 a skeletal vulture caws overhead

The nymph hears the sound from outside the burrow, and snaps out of her trance-like state. She sets the cocoon down carefully before going outside to investigate.
