*I've been fleshing out this world more. I have a lot more characters for the Autumn Court but its been awhile so I'm don't know much about any current events.*
*You're here! Yaaaay!*
*Yup! Sorry about being so sporadic. You been up to much?*
*Ack, missed this*
*I've been trying to start a campaign that plays on Saturday. I'm hoping to have about 3 players, and so far I have Pallghost.*
*Nice! So it's an online game? What's the campaign like?*
*Indeed, since no one I have in person wants to be decent players*
*The plan was to decide on a game after we had players so we could have something everyone will enjoy*
*I'm thinking something using the almost-grimdark worldbuilding I came up with*
*Good afternoon, my fellow creatures and cryptids! I know Autumn Country has been in stasis and limbo for a little while, so I wanted to revisit it- and if this is truly the end, to wrap up some plot lines with dazzling displays!*
Adeline has returned to the burrow, preparing one last thing before she finally responds to the cocoon's call. She is clad in the dress that Goto gifted her, as well as wrappings made of silk covering almost her whole body, which she is carefully adding runes to via a pen and a small inkwell. Every so often she is stopped by something, clutching her side and wincing slightly- she's long overdue for her metamorphosis, and it's starting to cause discomfort and pain. One way or another, she'll be joining the other moths soon.
The Starshredder has relocated to a spot closer to the edge of the sanctuary forest, and inside that wretched vessel, an even more wretched flower is planning its next move. It briefly thinks about the magical tablet the Prince gave him, but again dismisses the idea- they need it for their ultimate goal. And for that lofty goal, they'll also need a place to set their trap. The Sugarplum Queen, brought back to mortality... it could hardly think of a better outcome.

*I'll have to come up with a new character to throw at Adeline, since the Prince isn't that interested in her now that their deal is done.*

*Ah, I forgot about her! I'll send them in real quick!*
Carnival floats over in a little bathtub. She's looking around despite her eyes being closed. When they 'see' Adeline, they lean forward a bit. "Adeline...?" She doesn't sound confident.
She takes a moment to compose herself. After a second, Helianth suddenly notices the blood coating her hands. That wasn't there before. "You need to learn how to do your job properly. Maybe now you didn't have those little distractions, you'll be able to get something done."

The nymph looks back up at them, managing a small smile on her face. "Hi, Carnival. Yep, it's me. Changed my true name so she couldn't find me- if you're skeptical, I have my journal as proof." She replies, producing the aforementioned journal from her satchel, which is sitting on the ground nearby.
The star-eater's flames burn a bit brighter at the sight of the blood, processing her words. "...What are you suggesting?" If it could, it would be grimacing with palpable resentment.

"Oh, heh... thass... good. I was... worried you m-might... not wanna see me again..." She climbs out of the tub, landing face-first in the snow.
"I don't think anything I said was unclear." She leans close, her expression wrinkled with deep, angry lines. "Your friends are dead. You have no one. Not the scientist, not the psychic projection, and not the cultist. No one loves you. No one ever has, or ever will. Do your job, or I'll use your heads to light my cigarettes."

With a sudden quickness- nowhere near the unnatural agility of her mother, but vaguely reminiscent of that- she rushes to catch Carnival mid-fall. Adeline would have certainly failed at that if she was even a fraction of a second slower, and even then it was uncomfortably close to failure. "Why would I not want to see you? You've been helping me and my mother a lot, I'm always happy to see a friend." She carefully sets them down on their feet. "I've been meaning to ask some questions... is that okay?"
Helianth's flames are burning hotter and brighter than they have in a while, the very air wavering with heat around them, and the surrounding metal objects glowing in molten hues. Molten gold ichor is weeping from its flower heads, from rage, from sadness, from pure hatred. Hatred for her. "...Understood." Internally, it's thinking of roughly twelve different ways it wants to kill her after it and the Prince attempt their trap, assuming it works.

They nod. "I... I ran. When the Queen showed up..." She hugs Adeline tight, tears running from her eyes. I ran away again. Flickering images hit Adeline's mind. A first person view of someone digging. Burying themself. Fire blazes through the village. Screams abound. I wanted to go home... but I didn't have a home anymore... So I hid in the earth... for the first time... Then, she can hear her conversation with the Sugarplum queen, muffled by layers of earth. I'm so sorry... "You can... ask your questions... if you'd like..."
The Queen seems unharmed, unfazed. She wipes up some of the ichor off of Helianth's petals with her finger, then licks it off. "You taste better than your friends." She turns to leave, then stops. "I brought you a gift." She drops a black orb on the ground. The Uzumaki Scrapple. Not the one that trapped the Flame, but a copy. "Don't say I never gave you anything." She walks out of the ship, disappearing as she falls.

Adeline holds them the whole time- the nymph is very warm to the touch, and their silken wrappings add additional softness to the embrace, like clothes freshly dried. "I'm truly sorry as well..." She can't think of anything else to say for a while, so she just remains silent for a minute, comforting Carnival. After a while, she thinks of something to ask. "...Is it actually true? What she said about me?"
Still burning white-hot, the crooked god-hunter wordlessly picks up the Scrapple, recognizing the object immediately- well, part of it does, at least. Helianth analyzes the sphere for a moment, thinking about what this could mean... and then, it has an idea. Yet another awful, terrible brilliant idea. She will get her just desserts. She will burn. Burn along with all the others.

*Good place to end for this one, I think*
"I know... I'll do my best to make sure she won't find us. Promise." Adeline continues to hold her, though her thoughts are drifting slightly towards that unnerving realization. Her old family, that miracle... had it all been planned? The moth-child can't help but worry... but she knows that's all in the past. Soon, it won't be able to hurt her anymore.
*I agree- Hopefully we can continue with Adeline and company in the morrow! Until then, I wish you a good night!*

*My death was... greatly exaggerated. (but to be serious, I've had a busy couple weeks, but now I'm somewhat back.)
Heck yeah, congrats on the new pronouns! I'll be very sure to use them.
Yeah, I should be still here around then. Talk with you more soon, friend! Fare thee well for now!*

*Yvonne! Awesome to see you online again!*
*I'll have to come up with a new character to throw at Adeline, since the Prince isn't that interested in her now that their deal is done.*
The Sugarplum Queen bursts through the wall. "WHY ARE YOU DING-DONGS HERE!? AND WHERE IN THE HELL IS MY DAUGHTER?! OR MY SON FOR THAT MATTER!?"

*Baal! Good to see you as well! Thank you for your patience- it's been a busy couple of weeks, but I should be able to be here more often now.*
*I can't wait to see what you come up with! I was initially thinking Carnival would show up again, but a new face is a pleasant surprise as well.*
Helianth jumps at the sound of her crashing through the ship's wall- again- and spends a second readjusting the curios on the table it was working at. "The whereabouts of the prince are uncertain at the moment, and.... so is the location of the moth-child. We've been looking for them for a while, but something's hiding them from our sensors." It tries to explain, fully expecting the Queen to be further enraged by this news and almost reflexively bracing to dodge an attack.

"...Yes..." They rub their cheek against her. "Don't... let her find you... she kills everyone... She killed... She...she... b-b-bur..." She chokes on her words with a tiny squeak, and doesn't continue. She buries her face in Adeline's shoulder.
