*Fyi, Poncho man is a hallucinator. The mist isn't deadly, but it does cause serious hallucinations and eventually madness if one stays in it too long. The multiples are hallucinations as well*

Poncho man (Or maybe 'The Madness? idk) continues to run towards the two. Darius can hear ragged, sharp breathing, but he's unsure whether it is his own or the killer's.

 Darius feels at his chest as he runs, unable to do anything but focus on running and trying to steady his breath. He thinks back to his drills he did for running laps on the track, just breath he tells himself.

 the hallucinations appear in larger numbers now. The mist isn't coming from the new ones, which is a giveaway.

The real Poncho man has actually lost the two, and they aren't in the gas anymore, but Darius wouldn't know that, because he's been exposed to it for at least a minute.

(Hmm. 'The Creeping mist' sounds good, thx jester. I might change it to 'The Fog' or smth tho)

 He looks around, still trippin’ on the mist “Is he gone? I see him everywhere we turn, but you aren’t hurt right?”
