Cordon has died, Henry has died, and Tyler has died. Loss seems to follow him; perhaps Omar and their lineage is more tied into his life than he once thought.
Air brushes past Atticus’ face as he recounts the memories, soaring through the sky as far as the border will allow him, making rounds across the camp with his Metis-given wings.
The piercing sound of metal screeching replays in his mind in between each fragment of memory.

The hatred, misplaced. Screeching. The love wasted. Screeching.
He flies higher and higher up, ignoring the singe of his tears.
I’m sorry, Henry. It happened again..

He enters a divebomb, wings tucked around him as he plummets to the ground, but the wings unfurl on their own before the impact. He yells out, loud and filled with agony.
And Tyler..
This is all your fault, Atticus, you don’t deserve to be happy. You don’t deserve to live.

The orange glow from when he was claimed returns to his memory, along with the heat of the symbol that appeared. He seethes with dark energy, slamming his fists into a nearby tree, felling it.
It should have been ME!

Hours pass, and at the end of them, Atticus has constructed a bonfire with a cross in the middle.
It blazes gloriously, and he sobs as he throws into it the clothes he was wearing during the fight with Omar, as well as a silver card bearing his own name, eyes gleaming as he stares at the objects burning.

Goodbye, Bleu.. I’ll always love you.

In one last effort, he takes the flower he got from Oizys, crushing it as she instructed.

Please, bring him back to me…

[Minor addition, Oizys did not in fact bring Cordon, but made Atticus feel less guilty about the whole situation, with less grief.]
