He feels something breathing down his neck. “You called?”
if he turns around to see what it is, nothing is there.
He doesn't, continuing to take deep breaths, closing his eyes for a moment, clasping his hands together in front of him "I don't believe we've met, and considering I've met the other two, it's only right I meet you too. I'm Zackery, but please, just call me Dib." His manner of speak has completely changed, understanding the danger he is in.
“You’ve interacted with both the Queen and Amatarou with your sanity intact? Mm, impressive. Now, tell me, my dearest Darling Dib, why you’ve decided to risk meeting a third?”
"Risk begets reward, and describing my sanity as 'intact' wouldn't be entirely accurate, ma'am. I wouldn't be able to learn anything about the Nightmares of this town without a little risk."
“Oh, but there are much safer options then heading straight for the big three… but who am I to complain? I admire your determination, my dear.” It whispers, trailing a clawed finger down his neck, following a major artery.
*i might make a nightmare lord myself. Still thinking of ideas*
*Nightmare Lords sound cool, but I don't want one myself, I've got close enough to one with Violence.*
*i'm think Cthulueqse vibes formed from the fear of the unknown*

As sunset falls upon the town, there is a minor brownout in the town's power network. As the power company works diligently to restore power, most are unaware of the Dark Energy coursing through the power systems, as at the local substation, an incomprehensible being has disconnected the service mains and is feeding its own energy through the town's power grid.

The mother notices the Architect, but doesn’t distract themselves from their task. Threads leap from around the Mother towards the man, attaching to his limbs and neck. The Mother, holding those same threads in their human set of hands, begins puppeteering the man around the alley, making him dance as he screams in utter terror. It chuckles and laughs, and just as he’s about to call for help- it lunges towards him, sinking it’s teeth into his neck, cutting his scream short as venom makes its way through his veins.
Once the poor soul is dead, the Mother can hear the Architect clapping, rising to her feet in a standing ovation as she walks down the wall of the building, grinning ear to ear behind her mask.
The Mother climbs up to the side of the other building, partially to make room for the Architect considering how enormous the Mother’s monstrous form is. Two of it’s appendages are busy cocooning the corpse in a casket of silk.
”enjoy the show?” The Mother asks, grinning as it wipes blood from it’s face using a handkerchief.
*Sorry about the delay*
"I loved it! Such graceful brutality! Such vicious cunning! Truly, a marvelous performance." She applauds, walking down the wall back into the alley proper.
“Why thank you, in the rare case a mortal notices me, I do make sure they are rightfully terrified… You run a fair, do you not? I’ve heard whispers that I wasn’t the only new nightmare lord in Balios…”
"I do- The Masquerade Fair!.. it's, er, not open at the moment, but will be soon. Lots of opportunities to terrify, and lots of temptation for people to try to distract themselves from their own dread and ennui with rides, attractions, and overpriced overly sugary food..."
“Sounds simply marvelous! If Amatarou is the stagnancy of this town, and I am what they try to fill the void in their hearts with, what would that make you, my dear?” It asks, circling around her, scuttling along the sides of the buildings.
*these three seem like they would work together very well as Nightmare Lords.*
"I think I'm... the looming dread that is always in the back of ones mind, knowing that they'll eventually have to return from their distraction and back to that stagnancy they are so desperate to escape, thinking that maybe if they just don't think about it, the problem will vanish..." She muses, still smiling to herself.
*They do- if these three were to team up, they'd be unstoppable...*
“Oh, I do believe I am going to like you, my dear... I currently reside in the Old Balios bar, but Amatarou and I have been working together to redecorate a Casino to serve as my new domain… it is coming along swimmingly.”
*and their themes work together quite well! Amatarou being the fear of laziness and Stagnancy, the Mother being the fear of Addiction and obsession, and the Architect being what she just described. Yes, they’d be quite the horrifying trio. Nobody in Balios would be safe…*
"That does sound lovely indeed. I think I'm going to like you and Amatarou as well. Once the Fair is all operational, it should bring in more people looking to distract themselves from their problems, and when that- inevitably- doesn't work, some might turn to distractions that benefit the others, like you and your casino. Wonderful how that works, don't you think?"
