The fiendish chef smells the air, then points at Barnabus, not turning his head. "Oil. Salt. Lithium." His voice softens. "Construct, come out here. I have a task for you."
Barnabus feels something tickling the back of his mind, a line in his arcane code telling him to obey. He shakes his head and claws at his face briefly, damn demons. He steps forward, only to ake himself known, but no further.
The demon nods. "Good enough. I have some stones aboard the Tooth. I need you to place them in any pools of water you find. Do not wash the stones or scrape off the algae. If you find any other, similar stones, I implore you to spread them around in a similar fashion. Please repeat my orders in your own words." The last part is something he is clearly used to saying over and over again.

Suddenly, Barnabus lurches back "WHAT IN THE NINE HELLS, WHY AM I SPEAKING LIKE THAT? THAT ISN'T ME." he claws at his face again, shaking his head "I'LL HELP BUT I GET THE ROCKS AFTERWARDS."
A young dude in overalls stands over a bloodied hunter. His baseball bat is wrapped in Christmas lights spattered in blood, like a morbid festivity.
'Hey there. You did that?' A scrawny guy in thick yellow rubber gloves steps out from the shadows
He twists the handle of his bat and it crackles with electricity.
'You're not gonna try that with me, right?'
*is your guy's overalls yellow?*
*No, just faded denim.* ”depends.”
'I'm not here to look for a fight. Let me guess, you're not exactly chipped, are you? Why you took out the hunter?'
"Chipped or not, I got some buddies who aren't."
'Good to know. Looking for any more?'
"Nope. This one just tried to put a bullet in Madi."
'I mean, you looking for more unchipped buddies? To make an alliance. Who's Madi?'
"My friend. And any unchipped is free to come crash with the scrappers any time."
'Scrappers? You a Leo line gang or something? We're San line, but it doesn't look like we're too different. Not a big group, we are, got ourselves a magnet barge though.' He smiles crookedly. 'You can call me Link'

'Hey, new guy?' Cal calls out from his couch. 'You with South Docks XT Club?'
"Nope; have hunted a bit but not much of an XT."
'Ok, good. Well, you picked an interesting time to show up. Bunch of South Dockers gone psycho, started attacking fellow hunters for money. Our club has come together against them.'
"That's... great..." She sighs
'Yeah. You got a name? I'm Cal, of North Bay XT Club'
"Evan Gemma." She holds out a hand to shake
Cal shakes her hand. 'Nice to meet you, Evan Gemma. Would be nice to go hunting with you some time'
"Do you wanna go hunting right now?"
'I guess I can, yeah. Got not much else to do. This is Felix' he gestures to his happily beeping drone. 'He's my loyal hunt buddy'

"An appendage. An octopus's tentacle can live for up to an hour after being severed. Same principle on a larger scale." He pulls a can of sardines from his pocket and opens it, eating one directly out of the can without any preparation. "And no. She was a friend, not an employee. I couldn't have her on board because of her inferior skills... but she made a damn good bouillabaisse. That's fish stew. The fish she used, see, were Pleonexian Groupers, a sort of bottom feeder native to this tunnel system. Greedy things, but their prey was plentiful... and fed on that algae I mentioned. Now the groupers are too bony to get more than scraps off of, which means a major ingredient of that stew barely exists anymore."
He looks around. "This place needs more TLC, less THC."
'I guess you could say that. Maybe I can help you out, take out whoever did this. How much are the drinks here?'
"Killing," he states firmly, "is for artists. And I've seen your kills. You have no love of the art or your prey. If you were doing it for others, it would be acceptable, but you are wasteful, selfish, and sloppy. As it stands, you people are hardly tolerable." He walks to go behind the bar. "The prices vary widely. What do you want?"

Killing them is not in my interest, but when I must, I make sure it is respectful. We all have an impact on the world, even if it is very small. Thus, we are part of the environment, part of nature. And I do not appreciate people who desecrate nature mindlessly. I do my best to educate them to do otherwise." He looks through some strangely-shaped glasses and pours some high-quality beer into one of them, placing it in front of Cal. "Smell that before you slam it back. The bulb shape allows for a greater gustatory experience."
