"Well, hello there, Zephyrus! It is nice to meet you."
"And you. Where are you bound?"
"Well, that is a rather loaded question, friend. Nowadays, I've taken to wandering. Having destinations takes the fun out of travelling, don't you think?"
"Not if you have a mission. I'm bound for the new forest, if you would come with me"
"Oh! The new forest! That's where the townsfolk said their ruling deity scampered off to. I've been meaning to check it out... it seems to be the subject of much controversy!"
"Is that so?" They snap their fingers, and a new wineglass comes into being. Their serpent headed tail injects it's venom into it, the venom being a tawny yellow wine. "A toast then" they offer the glass "to our new endeavor"
"Ah. No. I don't drink. Or eat, really. Sorta can't."
"Why's that?" They begin walking. Or floating, above the ground.
*I'm trying to make a new myth here, cuz sarlok is supposed to be a mix of loki and Zeus. Balo challenged me*
*I see...*
"Well, it's sorta timey-wimey. Not sure you'd understand, really."
"Try me"
"Well, as a god of Eternity, my form is trapped in this state. I neither age nor change in any way that would be meaningful to you. My personal timeline, while stuck in a loop because of circumstances outside of my control, is frozen. As such, I am essentially a dead corpse walking around, except I'm not dead, just placed in stasis and possessed by myself. Therefore, consuming food would not be the best thing to do, as my digestive system is non-functioning."
"My wine is more than physical, but nevertheless, I basically understand. You are a god of eternity then? I am the god of passion. Shifting moods and obsessions"
"Well! Such further opposites are rarely met."
"Indeed." They take a sip of wine, savoring it. "What are you passionate about, stranger?"
"Keeping peace. Making sure that everyone lives. Nor letting people die?"
"Peace. An interesting concept. What are your thoughts of the new forest? Would you say it's peaceful?"
"Well, I've never been. I wish to go, to see whether or not it truly is peaceful."
"It is where we are headed"
Eventually, they reach the new forest. Birds sing in the branches. Small animals rustle about.
*In the interest of mythmaking, would you be cool if sarlok temporarily turned up the child's passion for peace?*
*Hoo boy*
*Go ahead*
"Hm. Well. It's a forest alright. Nothing too out of the ordinary."
"Yet. Can you look into the future? Forests are known to be home to monsters, and dangerous animals. Liable to kill and eat mortals. It may be peaceful now, but a forest like this? With a headstart on all others? It will become a living death trap. Something mortals will come to fear, and send heros into, to slay monsters, real and imagined. Then everyone dies, and nothing is peaceful"
"All forests are are groups of trees! So far, no monsters in sight. Really, that term monster is a funny one. Who made the word monster? Did they use it to describe a horrible beast? If so, would they ever come to think monster would be used to describe people? Or are monstrous people so far removed from how we perceive ourselves to be that they no longer stay people? If so, then what is a monster? Oh, I'm rambling, aren't I. That means I'm nervous! A great thing it is to be nervous, you know. Keeps you on your toes. Ready for action! Mortals are quite stupid like that, aren't they. Always sending off heroes to kill things. To kill monsters! Monstrous monsters, some would say. Killed by humane humans! I'm still rambling, aren't I. Hm. Don't like it. Usually I'm a lot more controlled. Death trap? Yes, you said something about that didn't you. Never like those. Always a bit messy. But you know what's messier? Calling one thing evil. Calling something a monster. There are no monsters! Monsters are just things we use to distance ourselves from something else. So it's easier to harm it, to kill it. I'm still rambling. Hm." The Child opens it's mouth as if to start another sentence, only to be distracted by a particularly round stone placed in the path.
"Please. Nothing in this forest could harm me. I worry about eventual mortals. They, sadly, do not share our enlightenment on relative morality. They use the same rationale as you say, and will not be swayed from it. Is it not our, your duty, as a god, to protect mortals from sutch" the click their tongue "dangerous thoughts? Would a dangerous place, sutch as this forest, not be better if presented more manageably to them? There is a village nearby. What would stop them from deeming those within monsters? Going on a great and bloody crusade against it?"
The Child drops the stone. "Ah, but that is where you are wrong! It is my duty to protect humans from that way of thinking! And it is of no use to any if nature would be whittled down to suit the whims of man. Humans do not control nature. At least, not yet. Not completely. In a few thousand years or so, maybe. Depends on how quickly they'll advance here... And as for what would stop the village folk from deeming the denizens of these woods monsters? Me!"
"And how would you do that? Humans, and mortals in general, are notoriously unruly. Controlling mortals directly isn't an option"

The clocks run out, too late to wake up. You're locked under this nightmare's thumb. Begging you hide and run.
She laughs. "Oh! I am not a mother. I am the Mother. They call me that to ward off my attention. It get's lonely when they do... But I suppose it's natural for mortals to fear me..."

"I'll have you know that I am a great orator."
"Oh, I have no doubt. But the patron of that village is, unfortunately, a rather disagreeable war god. Who would they be more likely to listen to? A new god, who looks like one of their children, no offense intended, or their patron, their creator, the ultimate parent of them all? Negotiating with that, while dimly possible, is functionally impossible. There is, however, an easier way"
"Bah. Even the most disagreeable can see reason when prompted hard enough. I''ll get their patron on my side then."
"Or, you could take a shortcut. Simply remove the stimulus. Without it, the controversy would die down, and we would be at peace again"
"But you're talking about removing the woods and what lives in these woods. Where I come from, that's called genocide."

“Ah. Fear. I suppose we are kindred souls, then. Feared by mortals, lonesome.” They smile sadly.

They laugh, and thunder rolls. "Innocents? No creature is innocent" they stride forward, and pull aside a branch, revealing a wolf pack feasting on a rabbit. "Are these your Innocents? Did the rabbit deserve to die? Is the fly fated to get trapped in a web? Nature requires daily crimes. By your own logic, shouldn't this chaotic, disorderly, wicked forest be erased? Hell, you wouldn't even need to destroy it, simply make it so it never existed. Preemptively prevent millennia of suffering and chaos"
Next to Yuki is a tall woman in black robes, with plants growing from the fabric. Her hair is long, trailing to the ground, and ravens nest within her hair, which is braided with plants and bones. On her cloak, are two pins, one depicting a raven in flight, and the other showing a snake swallowing it's own tail. She is sitting on a log, tending to a fire.
