You don't. Svogthir is imprisoned with the material component on his body. He will only be released when you and all clones of you are dead, and the fire giants of 100 worlds seek to kill you.

I would argue that half of them should be frightened on a fail, and none of them on a success.

and? the rocks have limited size, and unless they're heat seeking, only the casters would know where to shoot anyways. and still disadvantage from being unable to see the target.

that's somewhat fair, but I'd say deal in 75% numbers. so 75% of the giants would be frightened, as 25% would be on a pass

Um... Hold on... It has happened before I'm sure, and what happened is that everyone took a long rest or continued fighting each other. In a 1v1, I think not.
If this was an actual Arena, and as how I am the Announcer of sorts I would probably say something like, " HEY! What do you think you're doing running from the battle danggit! Get back here before the spectators start demanding refunds! "

Have you heard of giant rune magic? You can't dispel a hedged prison without the material component, which Svogthir was carrying.

the way that one turned out is that our respective armies battled it out in the background, while our armed to the teeth characters duked it out in a 1v1

well considering that it was capable of causing massive amounts of destruction, yes. look up the first sundering. and that's when the elves weren't trying to destroy stuff.

This pointless argument is boring. The wizard who imprisoned Svogthir ends it(There was another condition that the wizard could release him when he was not charmed and no one friendly to you was in that material plane) and he agrees to call it a draw.
