I dunno, I'd be down with the str check idea if it'll jeep this going.

Str check to go up: 9. Still at 5 then

How the rolling work though. More specifically how many posts to change your modifier, and who is going to keep track of it.

I'd say just make it DC 15 to make it simple, and every time you pull, your score goes up by one, noting your score after your tug.  Every day that passes without pulling decreases your score by one to a minimum of 10.  Sound good?

(Example)

Tug roll: 13.  Still 5, but my STR score is now 12.

i think I’ve missed so many pulls that I’m at -10 already....

I don't think you can go below 10. Though that nat 1 still means you pull in the wrong direction, and maybe a nat 1 decreases your strength score by 1 as well? 

5 strength 13, at 102 still (assuming bobo is a downer) 

Up pull at 11 Str: 8

Now at 12 Str and the number is 102

4 to stay at 102, now at 14 str.

My rolls haven't been very lucky. 5,6,5,4...

Petition to change the DC to 10/11/12, cause even at Max Str of +5, with the DC at 15 it would only be a 55% chance to succeed.
