Generally, when you switch, the real world reason is “I want my character to have X”. But what about in-story?
For instance, I played a Paladin who switched to Fighter for 2 levels. Real world? I wanted Two-Weapon Fighting. In-story? He injured his arm, and decided to learn how to use his non-dominant hand to fight.
So here’s how the game works: I’ll state a multi-class, and someone gives an in-story reason for the switch. Then they choose the next MC, and so on.
Let’s begin:
Divine Soul Sorcerer switches to Open Hand Monk because…?
they want to fufill the meme, I punch their soul back into there body.

Swashbuckler Rogue briefly (say, 4-5 levels) switches to Hexblade Warlock.
Turns out being a sexy little rogue wasn’t enough, you need Eldritch power to help you stab people elegantly.
Celestial Warlock switches to Draconic Sorcerer then switches to Drakewarden Ranger who subsequently switches into Way of the Ascendant Dragon Monk.
