Humans sacrificed/eaten, humans that live in terror, etc. would take place of followers. For corruption, it would just just function as regular followers.

I think that the gods and demons could work out something like where the humans send out heroes to retrieve some treasures from the demon’s place, and then most of them would get lost or something, giving the demons power
