If you actually want to hurt your players (and yourself), play a module. I guarantee that it is much more painstaking to play a written module with sentient players than to make a quarter of a world and improvise something that's on-brand for that world. That is, if you're like me. By which I mean that it is hard to not go by what is officially written.
Ahahahahahahaha that is an awesome euphemism: sentient player: finely sensitive in perception or feeling Ahahahahah sensy player - I could never game with sensy people - you're in the game to let your balls drop to crush, kill and destroy, not to interject on the narrator/NPC, "Excuse me, but this is too scary: can we skip this part of the story? And Mr. DM, that dragon with that hording issue needs behavior cognitive therapy before we even think about entering it's layer. Oh, and our guide leading us to the inner city seems very emotionally distraught, is there any support group in the city we can take him to, you know, to help him through his anxiety about the gargantuan monstrosity titan Tarraque that's is going to come and destroy the city?"
i dont get it
Candlekeep Mysteries had introduce a section at the beginning of the book Ahahahaha:
Be a Sensitive Dungeon Master
Before running an adventure with a new group of players, have a candid out-of-game conversation with them about hard and soft limits on what topics can be broached in-game. Your players might have phobias and triggers you aren't aware of. Any topic or theme that makes a player feel unsafe should be avoided. If a topic or theme makes one or more players nervous but they give you consent to include it in-game, incorporate it with care. Be ready to move away from such topics and themes quickly if a problem crops up. It's okay for characters to feel stressed and anxious, but your players should be relaxed and having fun.
Ahahahahahaha. Everyone is doing it so I'm gonna hop on this!
You could compromise. If you are going over content in your game and someone is uncomfortable with what's going on, you could take a break from the game for a few moments to assess the situation. There is such thing as being too sensitive, but atleast hear them out before assuming this to be the case. Always good to try compromise. If this persists enough you may need to talk with them after the session like, "hey... there's gonna be more stuff like this in the future. We might change some things, but not everything. Are you still in for next session or no?". Of course, if your gonna make changes to the game you should try see how the other players feel. Maybe you can get the sensitive player and the others to compromise. You may need to put your foot down, but you can say you atleast tried.

I mean i know that jj_seattle brought it up but why
I dunno... People have a tendency to say whatever the heck they want. This place is no exception. Though to be honest, I'm just as confused as you are.

So if a player is uncomfortable with a situation that affects them personally in a way you can't really understand you just let them suffer and leave them uncomfortable instead of listen to their opinions? Yes... It all makes sense when you put it like that.

This thread is weird.
Or maybe it's only weird to you. It might make sense to others, such as myself, or such as those who are not myself. You see, everyone has different perspectives, and only on the rarest rarities of rare occasions do they align, and even then, never perfectly. No one and nothing is ever completely identical. For example, if you had two candy bars made by the exact same machine with the exact same mass, they still would be slightly different. However, this is a statistical law, not an absolute law: the odds simply state that no two things can ever be the same, they change too quickly, since everything is always gaining and losing matter and energy. However, the amount of matter and energy in the universe can never increase or decrease, so maybe two very different things can be quite similar after all.

The difference between what you said and what he said was, he gave a straight forward response. Less vague. Gotta love simplistics.
I'm uncertain what you might be inferring without implying; I'm unable to ascertain, construe, derive, surmise, without conjecture: draw inference to reach a conclusion by reading between the lines. Please advise.
