I put the already-discovered pocket watch into the pocket of the overcoat, and search the desk (Investigation: 24) for a gold monocle. If I find one, I put it on the eye of the mannequin that corresponds to the eye on which the gentleman is wearing one.
If I don't find one, I conjure a duplicate (I've seen it in the painting, so would that count as valid for the Minor Conjuration feature?) and put it where it belongs on the mannequins face.
(Edit: 24!!)
The pocket watch fits into the pocket like it was made for it, as you doubtless suspect that it would have been!
You go through the desk, searching quickly but effectively, but do not find a gold monocle on a gold chain. Looking at the painting again, you also notice that the hat in the picture has a feather, which the hat on the mannequin, though otherwise identical, does not.
(got to reward a good roll with something!)
Your efforts to produce the monocle from the painting results in you holding a scrap of canvas with the monocle painted on it, as you have only ever seen the painting and never the real thing.
You can almost taste the oily paint on your tongues. Movement is difficult, but still possible. For now.
Alexander rushes over to the desk where he had found the box with the ink and quill in it. If the quill matches the feather that was in the hat, Alexander will take it and place it on the mannequin's hat.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kay picks up the mannequin and places it next to the desk in the same position as the man in the portrait. Then she looks around the room for anywhere that might be a good place to hide the monocle.
"Great now there's another person stuck in here." Kay looks at Hale. "We need to find that!" She points at the monocle in the picture. "If we don't we'll be stuck here as paint people forever!"

This isn't actually a signature, just something I copy and paste onto the bottom of all my posts. Or is it? Yep, it is. Or is it..? I’m a hobbit, and the master cranial imploder of the "Oops, I Accidently Destroyed Someone's Brain" cult. Extended sig. I'm actually in Limbo, it says I'm in Mechanus because that's where I get my WiFi from. Please don't tell the modrons, they're still angry from the 'Spawning Stone' fiasco. No connection to Dragonslayer8 other than knowing them in real life.

"Where are we?" Hale replies
Kay stops for a moment thinking, "I'm not really sure." She looks at Hale, "I thought we were dead, but no one else agrees with me. All I know is that we have to continuously get out of these rooms. Some of them try to kill you more than others do. This one's trying to turn us into a painting!" She gestures to her face which she assumes has paintbrush marks on it.
Alexander rushes over to the desk where he had found the box with the ink and quill in it. If the quill matches the feather that was in the hat, Alexander will take it and place it on the mannequin's hat.
The feather quill does indeed match the one in the painting! You also find that there is a loop in the band around the hat, which the feather fits into perfectly.

Investigation 4
Perception 14
As you go behind the desk, there is an indentation in the rich carpet which seems to match the mannequins stand, and puts the mannequin perfectly behind the desk, in the same place as the man in the painting. You almost feel as if you're wading to get there, the air is becoming so thick.
After sticking the feather quill in the hat, Alexander will also look around for the monocle.
Investigation: 18
Everyone is frantically searching, but you're the one who's eyes light up on the chandelier. In amongst the crystals hanging on silver chains, you catch a glimpse of some gold. One of the chains is gold, and instead of a crystal, there is a round glass lens of a monocle, hanging 10ft. above you, it's glass twinkling in the light.
"Great now there's another person stuck in here." Kay looks at Hale. "We need to find that!" She points at the monocle in the picture. "If we don't we'll be stuck here as paint people forever!"

It does indeed. Your speech is starting to slur as you find it difficult to move your face whilst talking - it's not just the air which is becoming thick!

After the monocle is (I assume) pointed out, I cast mage hand to retrieve it and put it on the mannequin.
Your mage hand plucks the monocle from the chandelier and brings it down to you. You place it on the mannequin, and as you approach you notice the plain features of the mannequin start to change into a frowning man in his sixties. The air is thick, and you can taste the oil paint in your mouth, feel it on your skin, or is it your skin now?
The monocle fits perfectly onto his face, and you feel a great swooping sensation as a wave of irresistable force pushes you all towards the window, and out, tumbling into a great heap in the office beyond - now the correct size for you. You your dismay, Alexander the Paladin is the last on the pile, in his full armour.
Standing up, you see the painting you fell out of is the same now as the one that was hanging in the painted study. The room you're in is almost the same, but everything is dusty - the carpet is worn and faded, the chandelier is missing half of its crystals. The leather desk surface is cracked and worn. The wall behind you is still filled with paintings of doomed souls, lost to the power of the paintings.
The room has two doors out of it - one where you found the cupboard, and one where you came in.
(Congratulations! You all narrowly avoided being consumed by a phylactery of a mysteriously longeved gentleman! What did you think? I'd love some feedback on this one, it's one I've been planning for ages!)

Alexander gets off the group quickly, apologizing the whole time. “Oh dear, that was close! Is everyone alright?”

I wondered if something like that would happen. Oh well.... I dismiss the scrap of canvas.

You cannot find any other exit. The window to the giant study outside is entirely unyielding, and there are no other doors.
