The village of Hoovale is quietly nestled away from the hectic commotion of big city life. The citizens of Hoovale enjoy their peace and quiet and their routine lives. The village especially looks forward to the holiday season, and the celebration of Christmas. The Hoovale decorations and festivities around the holiday have become well known throughout the region. However, this year, the holiday season has been spoiled. In the middle of the night, creatures crept into the houses of the villagers and kidnapped all the children. The adults were shocked and saddened to wake up to find the empty beds. A group of citizens took up arms to search for the children, but they haven’t returned. With the children gone and their rescuers missing, Hoovale has slipped into a deep depression. The enthusiasm and joy surrounding Christmas has been stolen from the villagers. They solemnly go about their business, quickly losing hope that the children will be rescued.
Hello, I am a long-time DM on here who is looking to run this one-shot over the holidays. I realize this will likely go well past the Christmas holiday time, but it will be fun to start now and see how it ends.
Application notes: I am looking for 4 - 6 players who can commit to playing. We will decide among us at what level we want to run this game at. we can do anything from 1st level to 20th level, and I will modify the encounters accordingly.
For character creation, all published material is acceptable, just no home brew. Stats are 4d6 reroll all 1s. If you don't like them you can use point buy.
To apply: Name: Race: Class(es):
Backstory and background are not super needful in this one-shot.
This sounds so fun and I’d love to finally play a game that you DM!

Name: Kosmos
Race: Harengon
Class: Monk
Kosmos is a Charlatan. His alignment is good, though a bit skewed as he swindles people a little here and there. Not his fault that people eat out of the palm of his paw? And sometimes he is even telling the truth! The children though, he loves entertaining the children. They have a special spot in his heart and now that they are missing? Something must be done.
Weird - never even messed with the rolls up at the top, they are what they were.
Half the time: can charm her way out of anything. 90% of the time: truly believes she can charm her way out of anything. 98% of the time: will... not... shut... up. One day maybe someone will set her straight. Probably not, though.
Pretty, though she has always relied more on her words than her looks. Not above using her looks though.
Youngest child of a minor noble family. An afterthought. As a child, Lyra once found a small, strange dull black musical instrument. A harmonica. She keeps it with her always and plays brief, strange haunting chords on it whenever she casts a spell or inspires someone. There is something unearthly about it, not of this plane of existence. Stains her lips like dark lipstick. The harmonica is an artifact of Shadowfell and the mythical Raven Queen, who has now bonded Lyra for life whether or not Lyra knows it (or wants it).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
