MAIN MISSION:A bandit gang known as The Undertakers have been harassing commoners in the streets and dark alleys of Waterdeep for sinister purposes - preying on the weak, and extorting the rich. Reconnaissance missions describe their base in hidden on the first level of Undermountain, which is accessible through the Yawning Portal, a famous inn in Waterdeep. Your job is to infiltrate the first level of Undermountain and destroy the undertakers. You are also privy to knowledge about Xanathar gang forces lurking around the level as well. You have full discretion to take care of them, too, as you see fit.

Mad Eye reaches the bottom of the well from the Yawning Portal amid cheers from those above. With a flourish and a deep bow to the crowd above, he turns and faces the rest of his party.
"Well then, shall we find these Undertakers and send them to meet Kelemvor?" The tabaxi stands about 5'7 and is lithe, life aboard a ship has kept him in shape. His golden yellow fur a stark contrast to the gloom around them, and only moments before everyone descended in to the Undermountain, he was taking bets on how long it would take them to return. Of course the favored odds were that they wouldn't, but Mad Eye has never believed in the odds. Hanging casually at his side is a shortsword and several daggers can be seen in a sash across his chest. He wears a midriff vest in a bright green color, and some dark blue breeches. Unlike most of his species, his tail is not more than a foot long nub, the results of a misspent youth on the streets of Luskan before finding a home with Ship Baram.

Rowan quietly weaves through the raucous and crowded tavern, catching one final glance at the moon before he slowly walks down the steps to the Undermountain. He is a lithe Aasimar standing at about 5’10” with longish silvery white hair, striking green eyes, and fair white skin that seems to have greyish tone (Akin to a Drow). He wears loose fitting and baggy common clothes with a rapier hanging at his side, and an amulet hanging from his neck. As he descends into the darkness he will nod at Mad Eye, before clutching the amulet and muttering, “Selûne give me strength.”

Cade glances around the area at the bottom of the well. He has pale skin and over-large eyes. He wears a set of normal leathers, with a scimitar at one hip and a shield held in his other hand.
"Seems like a dark place..." He comments, the voice soft and a bit timid. "I need a moment..." With words of magic he holds up a sprig of misstletoe and moves his hand in a gesture. His eyes turn a bit reddish as the spell settles upon him.
He then moves behind the biggest member of the group, peeking out from behind as he takes in the room. He murmurs the words of a quick spell, waving his free hand in the air. A soft glow settles onto his body.

Kasian moves stoically through the crowd as he readied himself for the decent. Though he had come to enjoy his time with the regulars of the Yawning Portal since his decent down the mountain, now was not the time for frivolity. They had a job to do, and we would complete it with the efficiency that was etched into him in his childhood. Thinking of home, he touched the ancient necklace that over the years had become as much apart of him and his current identity as his greatspear and shield; the item that was the cause of all of his misfortune and the item that kept him moving forward no matter how often he felt like he could no longer go on. Towering over the patrons of the bar at close to 8 feet tall and wearing heavy furs traditional to his clan, he reaches the entrance to the dungeon below and checks all of his equipment before taking a deep, calming breath. Brother guide me he thinks to himself as he begins to descend taking care to dip his clean shaven head - glyphs tattooed over his slate-grey skin to show his mark as a warrior, and enters into the unknown.
DID YOU HEAR THAT? Mad Eye and Kasian, on the map on the map I posted above in AREA 1, you notice a secret a 1-inch-diameter hole bored through it at a height of 5 feet. Behind it, the rapid shuffling of retreating feet can be heard. Someone knows you all are here.
"Well it seems the element of surprise is no longer a factor." he says gesturing towards the wall "perhaps we should be moving along." and he will draw his cutlass out.
"I guess so. Makes our job easier to know that they're nearby." he begins as he straps his massive wooden shield onto his forearm, "We better be extra vigilant for traps and surprises too since they're on to us."
Whether or not we move on, Rowan will notice that Kasian seems to be a little lost. Rowan will walk up to him and softly touch Kasian’s spear with the light cantrip. Eerie greenish grey light will blossom out in waves from the tip, illuminating their surroundings.
"Oh...uh...thanks a lot Rowan, 'ppreciate it." Kasian says thankfully. While certainly not unsuited for the dark or working underground, he usually felt much better (way) above it so the light definitely helped with one of his slight misgivings about this job.
"The path then?" Cade asks, peeking out from behind Kasian as he glances to where the hole was indicated. He runs his free hand through his brown hair as he looks between where the hole is and the path that leads away.
"I could... if you wanted... well... give you the ability to see in the dark too..." Cade tells the massive warrior he is currently hiding behind, peeking out and craining his head way back to look up at Kasian. "I mean... if you wanted it... Would take more of my magic... so.. If you want..." He ducks back behind the warrior as he waits for a response, his diminutive form barely reaching the warriors thigh.
Looking down at the smallest member of their party and sensing either his apprehension about their task or just his general shyness, Kasian does his best to give the halfling a friendly smile. "Ah thank you, the offer is greatly 'ppreciated but I've got all the light I'll need right here." he replies as he gives his spear a gentle shake, "Save your magic for the dangers that await us. You're right though, we should probably head off and get this over with shall." he continues as he looks at everyone for confirmation.
"Ok..." Cade says, giving the towering warrior a tentative smile. With another word of magic, and some motions of his free hand, he casts another spell, the glow settling onto his body once more.
He then scurries after the others as they head on down the path out of the chamber. He moves up to try to stay near the front member of the group, so he can aid in scouting the path ahead. His over-large eyes glow a soft red, allowing him to see in the darkness as he moves out of the light from the spear.

Cade nearly disappears in the darkness, not even a whisper to mark his passing. He would help with looking for any threats as they move, glowing eyes scanning the area.
At the west end of a 20-foot-wide hall (AREA 2a), stairs descend 10 feet to a room lined with pillars (AREA 2b). Similar staircases descend into the room from 10-foot-wide tunnels leading north, west, and south.
AREA 2a
Bas-Reliefs. Every 10-foot section of wall has a 9-foot-high, 4-foot-wide, 3-inch-deep door-shaped recess containing a bas-relief carving of a demon. Each relief depicts a different kind of demon (see below).
Skeleton. A kenku skeleton lies on the floor, one of its thin arms pointing toward a bas-relief of a nalfeshnee demon on the south wall.
The carvings on the north wall of AREA 2A depict (from east to west) a balor, a barlgura, a chasme, a dretch, a glabrezu, a goristro, and a hezrou. The carvings on the south wall depict (from west to east) a marilith, a nalfeshnee, a quasit, a shadow demon, a vrock, and a yochlol.
Perception DC12: ?????? If any of you pass, read the spoiler below.
The recessed wall that contains the nalfeshnee carving has a secret door leading to AREA 3. The recessed wall that contains the dretch carving has another secret door, which leads to AREA 4. The dretch carving has half-inch spy-holes for eyes. These holes are detected when the secret door is found.
