What PBP game should I run next - Single Choice
Hello all,
I love PBP, and have recently gotten into it (past season or so), and, since I never get to DM in my in-person games, have used it as a tool to flex my DM skills. But, I will be up front with you about this post: this post is not to recruit for a game, but rather garner interest for a few different PBP game ideas I have. It will help me decide what to run next, as I would love the chance to get to play with more of you lovely folks. Please vote in the poll, and if you want, you can reply in the comments below, giving me feedback. And yes, this is a blatant attempt to make the populace decide for me because I'm indecisive (That's why I don't play sorcerers anymore)
Option 1: A Published module
Pretty self explanatory. Say what modules you want below
Option 2: A module mash-up
Essentially, I take a few modules (suggest the ones you want below!), and put them into segments. Segments last about four levels, and each segment is from a different module. My job is to figure out how those segments connect (For example, how do we go from the final levels of TWBTWL to BG:DIA)
Option 3: Module with a twist!
This option is fun. I take a pre-exisiting module, and give it a wild twist that makes it the same but also different.
Option 4: Homebrew Game!
I'm a big fan of doing homebrew campaigns, and would love to do another in a familiar or homebrew world. generally, my homebrew games are high fantasy, with risky stakes, and may involve the fate of the world or other big tasks. In addition, I often add a dash of horror (usually cosmic) to my games, because I think scary monsters are cool (especially abberations). If you want more idea's of what my homebrew games are like, check out the games I'm dming in my signature (the names are links to the game thread).
Option 5: Newbie game V1
This option is for those new to both PBP and DND. I will run a simple PBP that goes over the basics of everything and gives you that classic DND experience (dragons, goblins, wizards, magic items, ETC)
Option 6: Newbie game V2
This one is for those who have played DND a bit, but have not done PBP. Otherwise, it's similar to a home-brew campaign (high fantasy, maybe some horror, high stakes)
Hey, It's me, RaccoonMaster! I'm back! I disappeared for a while there, and I'm very sporadic when I'm online lol.
I'm an actor, writer, singer (opera, musical theatre, and rock are my preferred genres), backpacker, and tall person (6'5 and counting). Pronouns are whatever, I mostly use They/Them though.
My Characters: Elsenia Selevarum: The Popular Paladin, Aasimar Noble, Level 2 Paladin of Conquest;

In terms of published modules I'd love to have the chance to play Chains of Asmodeus.
I'm always a fan of homebrew games, I think it makes for more personal and engaging storytelling.
“I will take responsibility for what I have done. [...] If must fall, I will rise each time a better man.” ― Brandon Sanderson, Oathbringer.
Homebrews are nice depending on the direction you go.
Published module with a twist is also nice. Partially because if you come across it by accident while reading other D&D discussions you can still get nice surprises. (Though of course directly looking at it is still not a good idea.)
This is a signature. It was a simple signature. But it has been upgraded.
Belolonandalogalo, Sunny
Eggo Lass, Bone and Oblivion | Tendilius Mondhaven Paxaramus, Drakkenheim
Karl Erikson, No Guts No Glory | Chipper, Curse of Strahd

Get rickrolled here. Awesome music here. Track 51, 10/23/25, Viva La Vida
Voted for Newbie Game V1. This was exactly my first 5e experience. A year later, I posted to do the same as a way to pay it forward. I think there is a real need for these types of games and so few DMs interested in doing it. If you have any interest at all, please do!
I've gotten ideas for characters in campaigns that closed.
The Necromancer who wants to heal people and "discover the secret... of life...ITSELF! MWA-HA-HA! Oh dear. I laughed maniacally out loud, didn't I?"
The Reborn who was trying to discover her identity in an Eberron campaign.
Either would fit in Eberron or Ravenloft.
As someone experiencing one of your homebrew games. I can confirm the horror element. Especially where we are right now. That being said, I have voted for Newbie as it is always good to get more people involved (and I currently think I am in enough games that I shouldn't be applying for more. But I think we all know that it probably won't stop me)
After joining more my signature got out of hand so I am now a proud member of the extended signature club!! :)
A Published Module. As someone with limited time, having details, encounters, maps, etc., already prepared saves a ton of time. Also, some of the modules are iconic. They are a huge part of the D&D experience. And you can run them with veteran or newbie players. And finally, you can modify them and make them what you want them to be.
You missed the option for Any/All of the above 😝
I'm a big fan of FR, so anything FR based, especially Icewind Dale/The North.
Alteria Bennutu - Orc Archfey Warlock
Scarlett Rotkäppchen - Tiefling Vengeance Paladin
Myrith Duskwyn - Aasimar Celestial Warlock
Wow, 21 votes! I think I'll take Vedar's suggestion and do an all of the above, category
Gonna keep this open for a bit more, to see what others responses and votes come in
Edit; Dang it. I tried to edit the post and it won't let me modify the poll. Oh well. I also changed the title to bring in more people

Henlo, I am a pan, NB, chaotic ADHD mess of a furry.
I am also a eepy eeper, who likes WoF, WC, and fire.
I gotta agree with Tarasque. Homebrew sounds fun, and I’m not really in many active PbPs
If I’m being annoying, tell me to shut up. Seriously. Just say “Bananer shut up.” And I will. For a few seconds!
Don’t listen to the folks down at Adohands. It’s good for me to overwork myself.
Professional idiot! Trans! Pansexual pancake! I am a minor so you will do none of that (GP) with me! I use He/They pronouns :3
Extended Signature!
i do enjoy a good homebrew
Yo, I’m Himy, He/Him. I enjoy reading books, understanding why and how things work, anime/manga, video games and obviously, TTRPGS. I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I like to think Im close. I’m good at trivia, history and science
I struggle with empathy. If you’re not sure what I mean by that, it basically means it’s hard for me to understand the mental state of others and respond with the right emotions
Should be all the important bits. Sweet
If you have a good homebrew thing, by all means go with that. Definitely a lot of solid modules too that could be fun in a PBP setup like Rime of the Frostmaiden or Radiant Citadel. I have never played a PBP game but I love DND & have a ton of character ideas so would be happy to join if possible.
Ok, so it seems this is all the interest I got, which is fine. The results seem to be leading towards a homebrew game, so here's what I plan to do (I'll post links to the recruitment threads when I put them up)
-Homebrew Game: this may take a second, I need to come up with something, though I have a few ideas
-Published Module: I pre-ordered the Vecna adventure, so once I get it in May I'll put it up.
-Newbie Game: I'll put this one up as soon as I can, probably by tomorrow night.
Thanks for the feedback!

I did not preorder vecna so I'm interested in playing that

I didn't preorder Vecna either, but think the Reborn would be better than the Necromancer for it. Unless you've got race/class restrictions.
As I know some of you in this thread are DMs or wanting to try DMing, I'll put this thread here:
