Greetings and salutations, ladies, gentlemen, boys, girls, neithers, boths, and in-betweens! I'm making this post to see if anyone would be interested in playing in a game run by me, set in the Neath. 'But Mr. Humbug,' I hear you ask. 'You're so cool and awesome and I'd love to be in any game you run, but what exactly is the Neath?' Well, I'm glad you asked! The Neath is the setting of a very wonderful browser game, known as Fallen London. (Another game by the same company, Sunless Sea, is also set in it, and a third game, Sunless Skies, is set in the same universe but not in the Neath. Also, a dating game set in the Neath is also coming out soon? It's interesting, to say the least. Oh, and there's also a prequel game.)
'Okay, Mr. Humbug, you beacon of truth and light and beauty,' I hear you say. (you're too kind, by the way) 'That's nice and all, but what actually is the Neath?' Well, I was going to get to that, if you hadn't so rudely interrupted me. Honestly. Well, the Neath is an enormous cavern located a mile below the earth, which is populated by many various settlements, scattered all about a great underground ocean known as the Unterzee, or simply the Zee. Perhaps the most important of these settlements is Fallen London, known also as the Fifth City, because it is the fifth city to descend to the Neath. See, Fallen London and all its sister games take place in an alternate timeline, where one by one five major cities have fallen below the ground, to the Neath. London fell in 1862, almost forty years ago. The current date is 1899, just a few weeks from the dawning of a new century.
London has undergone many changes in the lawless land of the Neath. The Traitor Empress lies in her Shuttered Palace, and while she still technically rules the city, a group of enigmatic beings known as the Masters of the Bazaar have more or less taken complete economic control of it. Large, shuffling things, they are never seen without their concealing robes, and many wonder if they are even human at all. And speaking of the lawless land of the Neath, I mean that quite literally. Even laws that those on the surface have accepted as essential parts of life don't quite function how they should. Time, maps, distances, all are rather difficult, nigh impossible to track. Even the iron hand of death loosens in the Neath, and even a bullet to the heart typically just results in a quick trip to the Slow Boat, after which the victim is nicely recovered. If one suffers from a wound so grievous they are unable to fully recover from, they are just wrapped in bandages and shipped off to the Tomb-Colonies (think leper colony) to waste away. Oh, also, Londoners now have to bump shoulders with all sort of bizarre creatures. The squid-faced Rubbery Men, the stolid and solid Clay Men, the thieving and mischievous Rattus Faber, the list goes on.
I'd continue, but I promised myself I'd keep this post relatively short. If you're itching for information, you can find the unofficial lore wiki here. Feel free to browse to your heart's content, but if you're interested I must ask that you not read anything marked as a spoiler. It's more fun that way(also, reading everything will take many days of your life). Anyways, if playing a game set in this setting sounds fun, let me know that you're interested. I've got a whole document full of races and backgrounds and other fun stuff in the works, it's not yet finished but I should have enough for character creation.

I'm interested in delving into this cavern, swimming lazily about in the Unterzee, and admiring the nuances of the Neathbow. I would prefer, however, to avoid contact with any creature that qualifies as squid-faced (Can we agree that such an entity is terribly unsettling?). Thank you for your consideration.
This sounds extremely awesome, I would love to play! I might not be able to play any of the races you have, since I suck at converting homebrew, and I can't download anything, but I would love to play! Geez, I sound like a broken record.

You should be able to play any homebrew race of mine, if you're in one of my campaigns, so putting the homebrew in dndbeyond shouldn't be an issue.

I am interested. Curious to know if you are open to the possibility of allowing homebrew subclasses and how the character creation would be made (abilities score generation, allowed sourcebooks, etc).

That'd all be taken care of in the recruitment post, this is just to see if people are interested.

I'd also be really interested in this! Sounds deliciously eldritch and juicily victorian. Also, a pugilist would fit here pretty well and I've been dying to play one for a while :))

I don't like rp-heavy games, I LOVE them.

Count me in for interest! This sounds like a fascinating world to explore and learn more about.

I definitely like the theme and setting of the campaign. Do you have the electronic version of the documents regarding the character creation options?
