I am starting a strictly PBP (no Discord) run of the Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan. I know this particular scenario has been around for a while, but I’d really like to get around five players who haven’t played this before and who are basically ignorant of the details. I’d also like a group of players who are imaginative and are willing to add creative descriptive dialog to their posts. Nothing crazy, just more than the one sentence response, “so and so casts blah blah blah.” If people want afterwards, this can lead into a run of The Tomb of Annihilation.
If you’re interested please post the following information

Once the party is chosen, use the point system to choose stats and level up your character to 5th level. Feats are allowed for your level 4 choice.
You, as a member of a prestigious and commissioned band of explorers, are excitedly approaching what you believe to be the site of the fabled lost Chultan city of Tamoachan. Finally, after extensive planning and enduring the arduous trials of an unforgiving jungle, your excitement mounts as you casually note the growing smiles of the others in your group. Stepping cautiously, yet eagerly, you also can’t help but wonder what strange experiences the ruins ahead will offer....
Hello there! I am interested. I like roleplaying and I would love to be in a group with others who enjoy roleplaying as well. I've never played and basically know nothing about the Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan, and I'd be down if it leads into the Tomb of Annihilation after.
Backstory: (If you need the backstory too, I'm totally okay with make adjustment to better fit the party/story)
The forest of Geshm has always been an area travellers preferred to avoid. The wood elves are one of the few humanoid races to have thrived in this environment. Syvis was one of the rangers from the wood elf community, selected to enter the chasm and explore the nearest sections of the underdark. Much of Syvis’ life was spent manning a watch station, and some nights, Syvis thought he could hear whispers that seemed to come from the very rock walls of the cavern itself. Upon exploring, he found himself approached and surrounded by a large group of humanoid mushrooms, ‘myconids’, and showered him with spores that allowed telepathic communication, - the origin of the voices.
The myconids showed Syvis many new tunnels and routes, however, Syvis realised he had been away from his post for too long, leaving it unguarded. He hurried back, as he approached, he was horrified to see swarms of bizarre creatures - Kruthiks - pouring out of the rift and into the forest. Distant screams began to rise as the treetop settlements were taken by surprise, not expecting an attack of such a scale to come from the rift.
Syvis took to the trees, waking and warning as many as he could, slaying the blade-legged monstrosities at every opportunity. But it was quickly becoming obvious that the entire community was being overwhelmed. Gathering what survivors he was able, he helped them settle down elsewhere.
Eventually Syvis found that he was the only one of the group that had not settled somewhere, realising that wandering, exploring and being on the move was his profession - it was all he knew. So he continued his wandering, yet the sight of the bodies and the gore and the sheer unthinkable malice of those beasts scarred Syvis’ mind forever, haunting his dreams and praying upon his sense of peace even in times of safety.
Question before I apply: Can we still use Tasha's rules for Origins?

Background: Sailor or Soldier; Herdy has had a bit of a rough go in her professional career, loving an instrument that only has a place among pirates and carnivals she has wanted to make a name for herself. Down on her luck she got roped into some mercenary work and has been trying to save up money doing odd jobs ever since.
Character Name:Neff Do' Urth<----( link to character sheet) Race: Drow Class: Warlock: (Hexblade) Background: Urchin
Short backstory:
Neff is a cast out from Underdark Drow Society due to being blessed by Corellon, the God of elves, in body and Eilistraee, the Benevolent Goddess of the Drow, in spirit. Neff is both male and female but accepts male pronouns. He was transported to the surface and raised by Priestess of Eilistraee until his urge for discovery pulled him into the open world. Neff did not qualify and was not interested in becoming a Sword Dancer like the Priestess's that raised him, however he lives by her teachings and was still granted power by the Goddess through a bond other than that of clergy. Neff was made a Soul Warrior, gifted by the Goddess with magics and skills inherent in his Soul. There is a hope in Neff, that he will be one of the few ever granted access into Arvandor, the Elvish heaven denied to all Drow. He should not have memories of the place since he is Drow, but he does regardless. Maybe these dreams or rather, memories, are the reason Corellon and Eilistraee have taken notice of him. Either way, he has set out to gain life experience through journey and adventure. One such adventure has his abilities commissioned to aid in an expedition to a place he doubted even existed, but is none the less surprised to bare witness to. What lies inside, and what is there to learn of the world and of himself? Eagerness wells in him as he braces for exploration.
About me:
I have been playing for years and have been reading for longer. I love lore so I have a lot of it stored up in the ol' noggin. This adventure is new to me and I have no clue what to expect, so this will be fun. I cant wait to see what the others come up with and I'm excited to hear back ^+^
Character Name: Varis Tamlien Race: High Elf Class: Fighter/Wizard (Divination, Conjuration or Transmutation and might go eldritch knight or battlemaster) Background: Gladiator / Varis was a well regarded advisor of the king and usually knew when to keep his mouth shut. But one time he misspoke and gained the wrath of the king. He was put into arenas for the kings pleasure but fared surprisingly well. Later Varis was promised to set free if he assisted the recent expedition to Tamoachan.
Character Name: Abomwe Tekilli Race: "Hill Dwarf', one of the Dur Authalar or Jungle Dwarves of Chult Class: Fighter Background: Folk Hero.
Native to the deep forests of Chult she often serves as a guide to outsiders when not leading raids against the Batiri goblins. She finds non-Chultans strange folk but endearing in their own way and enjoys their company as long as they respect her and the jungle.
Short Backstory - Harbek was raised in a small dwarven village in the middle of a remote forest. At the age of 50 the dwarves had to enter the forest and live there for 10 years before coming back spot the village. When the dwarves come back they come back with a deeper connection to nature. Those who become especially connected are able to become druids and help protect the village from threats. A few yeats into Harbek’s Druid training his vilage was a tacked by a dragon. He was the only survivor. He ran from the dragon as it chased him through the forest as he ran he turned into a wolf to escape it. He ran and he ran until he passed out at a town. He was awoken by a hunter who brought him unto the town where he was healed and restored to health. From there he became an adventurer using his powers to earn a living and to try and forgive himself for what he failed to stop. Now as part of a new party he is on his way to explore this new lead.
Tull spent most of his life in the monastery. From his youth he learned the ways of being a monk; the meditation, the way to comport yourself, and the martial training. His master had always been harsh, but Tull decided that he had been that way in order to train him well.
Now he was at a point in his life where he needed to leave his home and go into the world to experience things and help those he can. Well, he thinks to himself, I am about to experience some things!
I do believe recruitment is done since the DM opened another thread for the actual game already. I do recommend to the DM changing the tag on this thread so that it doesn't say "Recruiting" anymore.
Just opened the game thread, still waiting for confirmation from those invited. Once they all do commit, I'll lock down this thread. Thanks for interest everyone.
Background: Folk Hero - I grew up in a small, religious dragonborn town and became a warlock with our god as my patron. I used my powers to defend the city against a marauding band of barbarians and became the town's official protector.
