Spots have been filled. Thank you for the interest.
We've had a few people drop since the start of the adventure. Looking to recruiting 1 (max 2) more players. My original recruitment post is below. All game play is done in Dndbeyond PbP threads, but discord is used as a supplement for communication, note taking, and images. You will be implemented into the adventure by me for simplicity sake.
I am looking to DM my first Play by Post thread using an adventure done by a collaboration of Patreon creators (credit will be given in the main thread). The adventure is a healthy mix of role play, exploration, and combat. There will be good ole dungeon crawling, social encounters, and plot twists to dissect. The party will start off at level 7 and progress to level 9. It takes place in a homebrew world and will include some homebrew DM content. Adult content will be kept to a minimum, but swearing may be used. If you are interested, read the requirements below!
A Quest for the Shunned City For 500 years, two powerful celestials have held back a force of immeasurable evil from escaping the Realm Beyond into our world. Now, the celestials' power wanes, and soon...the aberrant creature will push its way into reality. Unleashed, the creature will leave only death and destruction in its wake. Fortunately, an ancient prophecy foretells that a group of heroes know as the True Last Couatl Heralds will join the celestials, and together, they will overcome the deadly creature, force it back into it own dimension, and save the world as we know it.
Platform: Primarily Dndbeyond PbP forum. Highly encouraged but optional discord server will be available for player questions, handouts, puzzle solving, and note taking of lore.
Class/Race: No homebrew classes or races. Any UA material should be approved by me, otherwise any class or race available via Dndbeyond works fine.
Participation: I will be available M-F, weekends are hit and miss with my schedule and IRL d&d. I will post at a minimum of once a day during the week, likely more. For game flow purposes, I would expect at a minimum of one post a day. Being PbP can be slow at times, progression will be important as the adventure moves along. Participation will be key during peak times of combat, social encounters, and otherwise. Life happens, just let me know if you are unable to post and for how long. If you are away for more than 48 hours without notice your PC will be botted (communication will happen before this occurs).
Other things to communicate:
Primary game play will occur in the PbP thread, there will be dice rolling available in Discord if needed, especially for mobile users.
The party of 4 will be assumed as an existing party. A collaborate background will be determined before the adventure starts, keep this in mind when creating your PC background. The characters will start off in a town that they are well known and have done good works for.
There are "dungeon crawl" aspects of this adventure where traps, puzzles, and random encounters could occur. I will do my best to make maps and other resources available via the forum and/or discord. OOC communication should be in (parenthesis) to discuss next steps for these situations. I will do my best to wait for everyone's/majority input before posting an outcome.
Being my first PbP I DM, there WILL be bumps. Please communicate to me these bumps, whether it be against game play or the adventure, and I will handle them accordingly.
Given this is an adventure not created by me, reading the adventure material should be avoided. This is to keep everyone honest and keeps the adventure fun for everyone!
To join, please post the following information. I will make a selection either later today or tomorrow. Selection will be determine by a number of things, mainly composition with current party and alignment. Backstory is nice but will not be a determining factor.
Currently playing in: Quest for the Shunned City, Coliseum of Conquest, DragonDenn's Dragonlords, Shipwrecked on Fugue, Tomb of Annihilation, Razor's Lost Mine of Phandelver, The Lost Kenku & One Grung Above
Currently DMing: Princes of the Apocalypse, Out of the Abyss, Coliseum of Conquest—The Arena (Sometimes)
Brief PC background: Hoit served as a part of a city watch, creating an unassuming facade and springing into hand-to-hand combat at the blink of an eye. However, after a discreet military coup, Hoit's city watch was disbanded and he was forced out as an exile.
Rubin was taken prisoner by evil underdark creatures (drow if they exist here) and was held captive by them for several years. he managed to escape, thanks to a dwarf battle group that attacked the place he was held prisoner. he lived with the dwarfs for some years, eventually learning the arts of the underdark ranger as well as worship of Moradin.
Niels spent the majority of his younger years fighting in a pointless war between two warring warlords. He saw nearly all his friends killed during the course of it, and eventually turned to necromancy as a sort of comfort. He worships Kelemvor, but more as a respectful relationship between enemies. (I'll add a tie-in to the campaign when I have enough information/figure it out)
If you want rolled scores: Ability scores: 1491115106
Let me know if you already have a cleric and want something different, I've got plenty.
Brief PC background: Suurg was never a believer and always puts his own interests first. He realized rather early in his life that he would never be able to be one of the pumped melee fighters of the city watch he looked up to. Choosing his own way, he uses stealth and ranged attacks to dwindle down his opponents. Suurg decided to use his talents to earn money as a bounty hunter.

Your typical orphan turned thief, but she was kicked out of the thieving ring because she was terrible at pick pocketing and burglarly so now she has to find another way to make a living.
This sounds interesting. Level 7 starting guidelines, what would those be? Many GMs start with X many Rare, X Many Uncommon, X Many Common magic items, and Y amount Gold, for example. Given that the party currently has a Bard, a Fighter, and a Wizard, here is the build I would submit:
Brief PC background: A knight who served primarily as a scout in service to her kingdom, Mylene found her calling after an encounter with true Fiends opened her eyes to the workings of the higher and lower planes of existence. She briefly studied with the clergy of a goodly deity of Knowledge, gaining deep insight into workings of the arcane and the divine, before committing to her desired role of hunting down her favored enemies, Demons and Devils (fiends). Given an opportunity to aid in a quest that might bring salvation to the land, she would eagerly commit herself to the mission.
Brief PC background: Growing up in the wild forests of the realm, Grixeor's peaceful life of hunting & foraging was destroyed when creatures of nightmare ravaged his community, savagely murdering all they could find. Only Grix and a few others escaped the slaughter of that night and it's memory haunts his sleep endlessly. Having heard that the source of such evil has been discovered, Grix sets out, determined to face his demons, to either exact retribution or die in the effort. Anything, even death would be better than the haunted existence he lives day & night.
Will leave you to advise whether any magic items can be assumed for the campaign.
The campaign sounds great and I love the prospect of having to deal with the puzzles & traps that you intend to throw at the group.
Brief PC background: Conor has lived by the sea his whole life, and having come of age followed his father into the militia guard (hence the martial direction with Hex Warrior) only to stumble upon a bottle washed up on shore that contained a corroded key. With curiousity getting the better of him he unstoppered the bottle and shook the key into his palm. Much to his horror he found himself suddenly unable to move, with the key somehow burning into his flesh. Screaming in pain, his mind was joined with another "WELCOME TO MY SERVICE MORTAL...SERVE ME WELL" to only words he heard before passing out. Waking, he opened his fist to find his palm bearing the brand of the key, and only a faint recollection of the presence that he experienced. Over the coming weeks he began to feel different, a latent dark power brewing, and had episodes of memory loss, being unable to account for time, and occaisionally finding himself somewhere that he had no idea where he was, and with an urge to seek out, something.....and with that Grix finds himself leaving his community in search of something or someone, but not knowing exactly who or why....
His background gives you a good hook around Conor's patron seeking to stop the evil spreading into the realm....Conor will find himself drawn to the adventure, for reasons he can't quite understand....

"Bubbles the Barbarian" (Locathah - Lvl 9) - Locathah Rising; Shai'ere Delatete (Githyanki Monk - Lvl 9) Rrakkma (deceased - MindFlayer); Saros Rockfoot (Deep Gnome Diviner - Lvl 5) - The Lost Kenku & One Grung Above; Tagret (Goliath Barbarian - Lvl 2) - Tales of Faerun;
Class: Bard 5 (College of Whispers)/Sorcerer 2 (Wild Magic)
Alignment: Neutral
Brief PC background: Corrin, known by most as The Face, that has worked as a mercenary for hire using his way with words to negotiate his way out of most situations. A freak accident some years ago caused an anomaly and infused him with wild magic (hence the sorcerer). However, this new power proved unstable and he is wary to cast spells unless absolutely necessary.
This would give a good option for working in my character - whether your party bumps into him on a current contract, or they look to hire him for help.

There is a cleric already in the party. Do you have another character? Point buy/standard array, as everyone else took that option.
DM - A Quest for the Shunned City (Groups 1 and 2)
So would that mean you would be not likely to pick Rubin either? Rubin is more of an underdark slayer than a cleric. More ranger than cleric.
How does a paladin sound? I could really bring any class, just tell me what you need.
