I’ve read that page over and over again .... but there example uses a full caster and a half caster .... not like a warrior/wizard ....
The reason the example doesn't use a non-caster/caster multi-class combination is because non-caster classes have no interaction with spell slots.
For example, if you are a level X ranger/level Y rogue (and not an arcane trickster), you have the spells that a level X ranger would have and that's it.
Oh thank god! I was afraid I was nerfing my spells (the few a ranger gets) by taking a few rogue levels .... I just think there’s a very deadly assasdin/hunter combo
Well, yes, you are nerfing the Ranger spells you have. By taking a level in Rogue, you don't gain any extra spells that would get if you have levelled up as a Ranger. Now level 6 as a Ranger doesn't get you any extra spells, but it means you'll be waiting an extra level to get more spells and spell slots if you go back to levelling as a ranger.
I understand that I won’t ever get the high level ranger spells because I will never break level 11 ranger ... but by putting 6 levels in rogue I’m trading the high level spells for the sneak attack and expertise traits
To the other extreme, if you dip into Druid (since you qualify for Ranger, you have the Wisdom for Druid as well) you're going to gain a lot of spell slots.

Let’s pretend I’m a level 5 ranger .... I get 4 level 1 and 2 level 2 spell slots .... but if I take 1 level in rogue .... I loose spell slots ?
Ranger is a half class spell caster so I now only have 2 levels of spell casting .... I know have only 3 level one spells?
Is this correct?
