I have a question regarding the bonus attack granted to Monks when using Martial Arts. Does the bonus attack benefit from the bonus dmg of a high DEX/STR?
That's my position as well, however, my DM believes that this attack counts as an off hand weapon attack that should be governed by the two weapon fighting rules. Would you hapoen to know of any place I can point him to in order to get this point across. He's chalking things up to differences of opinion/interpretation so I need something official he can read.
Good evening all.

You always add the relevant ability modifier to your weapon attacks unless a rule says otherwise. Martial Arts doesn't say otherwise.

And thanks for the response.
Here's an official ruling straight from lead rules designer Jeremy Crawford:
"@JeremyECrawford do the bonus action attacks from Martial Arts and Flurry of Blows add modifier to dmg? Or are they like 2-weapon fighting?"
"When making a weapon attack, you add your ability modifier to the damage, unless a feature tells you not to."

Thank you for your help.
