I'm wonder what crazy combinations have you seen in your games that seem to defy common conventions of reality, such as fire underwater, green flame blade with a frostbrand sword, etc.
Pretty much everything magical defies "common conventions of reality". But I would point out: it is actually possible in reality to have fire underwater, it just depends on the fuel used: magnesium, for instance, creates flame underwater. Water makes fire difficult only for some types of fuel because normally fire needs oxygen and water is too thick to let it burn the oxygen, but some fuels involve chemical reactions that produce the oxygen directly into the flame, thus underwater fire.
