To the homunculus servant from artificer is neat and I recently added it to my character sheet. Unfortunately, when I added it I noticed that the to hit was only my spellcasting modifier without proficiency (or all-purpose tool). I was under the impression that it added proficiency to it. Am I wrong to think this? If not then it must be a bug in dndbeyond with extra (which is common)
Given that there is no addable statblock for the homunculus servant for the Artificer feature I am going to guess you added the wrong Homunculus (because it's also its own monster that is not the same as the artificer one).
The stat block for the artificer's homunculus servant is added automatically when you infuse it.
None of the stats that are based on character stats are correct though (except HP, but not HD) and it even has a "might of the master" trait that is also completely inconsistent with the RAW. Quite a mess.
Didn't realise that changed. Seems silly to make it add a statblock that the system doesn't yet support. It would be easier for it to not auto-add anything to avoid confusion when you make the homebrew version of it and add it under Extras.
So is it supposed to add Prof Bonus to its chance to hit?
Yes.
"Force Strike.Ranged Weapon Attack: your spell attack modifier to hit, range 30 ft., one target you can see. Hit:1d4 + PB force damage."
Your "spell attack modifier" includes your proficiency bonus, it is not just the stat bonus. As such the Homunculous to hit bonus should be the same as the spell attack modifier of the artificer which is (PB+stat mod+ magic modifiers (if any) ). For example, if the artificer has a +2 All-Purpose Tool attuned then the homunculous receives the to hit bonus as well since its to hit is "your spell attack modifier".
Unfortunately, the homunculous stat block that is available on the infusions page of your character sheet is still completely borked. On my level 18 artificer character sheet with a PB of +6 and int of +5 ... the homunculous stat block that pops up shows +4 to hit and +2 to damage so it isn't properly considering either the PB or stat modifiers.

So I'll prob have to create a custom BA attack then. No worries, should be simple enough. Thanks!
