Is there a way to extend or make summoned creatures permanent? Any other spell that would extend the duration, kind of like how Find Familiar, Find Steed stay, or like Awaken?
IE, summon demon and have it be permanently summoned?
Is there a way specifically using the player options and rules?
Yes. Use Wish. Otherwise, no.
Is there a way in D&D?
Yes. There can be many ways. Ask your DM.

You are not limited to the spells and options featured in the books. Those are just pre-set stuff you can just take. You can do a lot more with magic and things from creating brand new magic items and spells, to creating astral lairs where you control the flow of time or anything else you can imagine. They're not in the books because it's purely "discuss with your DM" thing.

It requires a lot of teamwork, multiple casters, multiple concentration spells, and isn’t permanent, BUT.... planar binding can be utilized for various lengths of time(up to a year and a day) to bind certain creatures.
celestial, elemental, fiend, and fey are valid targets.
conjure fey can be used to summon a fey to be bound.
Infernal calling for devils
summon lesser demon and summon greater demon for demons
conjure celestial for celestials
Conjure elemental and conjure minor elemental for elementals
oddly enough all of those spells have a duration of 1 hour with concentration, and planar bindings cast time is also one hour(which requires concentration while casting). I’m not sure that it’s even possible to line up those casting and duration times since planar binding cannot be readied.
conjure celestial can definitely be used if a divine soul sorcerer useds the Extended spell meta magic when casting though.
there was also quite a bit of unearthed arcana about viable single creature summon spells, so those options may increase in the future.
Huh, I never noticed that casting a multi-round casting time spell required Concentration... or that two of the key spells in question arbitrarily have durations that will leave them at least 6-seconds short of being useful. The fact that it is literally impossible as a single caster to successfully cast Magic Circle, Summon Greater Demon, and Planar Binding, despite the text of Planar Bindingspecifically anticipating an interaction between them.... feels like yet another symptom of a diverse team of writers not sufficiently keeping track of what the other hand is doing. Big oof.
Yeah, looks like it requires 2 spellcasters to successfully pull off planar binding.
To answer OP's question, mechanically there is not a guaranteed way to make a summon permanent. The DM might allow it through some kind of roleplay or narrative reason though.
As the other posters above me have said, permanent summons are difficult to get. However, they are probably one of the most homebrewed things in existence. A permanent summon often includes finding a true name, making a sacrifice, or completing a difficult ritual.

Starting at 14th level, you can use magic to bring undead under your control, even those created by other wizards. As an action, you can choose one undead that you can see within 60 feet of you. That creature must make a Charisma saving throw against your wizard spell save DC. If it succeeds, you can’t use this feature on it again. If it fails, it becomes friendly to you and obeys your commands until you use this feature again.
Intelligent undead are harder to control in this way. If the target has an Intelligence of 8 or higher, it has advantage on the saving throw. If it fails the saving throw and has an Intelligence of 12 or higher, it can repeat the saving throw at the end of every hour until it succeeds and breaks free.

In the case of a demon or devil, I would assume making a pact with it could be an option.

I'm going to make this way harder than it needs to be.

WotC needs to bring permanence to 5e.

What book is Command Undead in? Is it Official or just homebrew?
Predictably enough, it's school of Necromancy.
Its the fourteenth-level feature of a necromancy wizard. In the Player's Handbook.
