i am a new user trying to build an eladrin elf shadow sorcerer but it only gives me the option of choosing draconic bloodline? how should i fix this. Thank you for any assistance i am very new at this.
Usually this is from not having purchased the player's handbook (or whichever source you're looking to draw from). The draconic Sorcerer is the only sorcerer that's available for free on D&D Beyond for legal reasons (e.g. it's the only one in the SRD).
If you buy other sources (or just the Sorcerer subclasses from them), you should see more options in the character builder.
As mentioned above, Shadow Sorcerer requires you to have access to the subclass by one of the following means:
You have purchased Xanathar's Guide to Everything on your account
You have purchased the individual subclass (instead of purchasing the entire sourcebook)
Or your character is in a campaign that has content sharing enabled and someone in that campaign has the Shadow Sorcerer subclass (either individual or XGTE sourcebook)
The free Basic Rules only include a single subclass for each class. You are also free to use the homebrew tools to 'recreate' a subclass from a published sourcebook, however you may not publicly share the homebrew as it is copyrighted material.
thank you so much i will try purchasing the book . I am really enjoying this new world of DND and I am really grateful for the guidance that I have found in this forum.
You can just purchase the sub-class if you that's all you really need. If you decide to purchase the entire book at a later time, the amount you paid for the sub-class is directly discounted from the final price. (So if the book is $29.99 and you pay $2.99 for the sub-class your book price changes to $27.00 (if there is a sale going on the $2.99 is applied after the sale discount, not before thus always a 1:1 ratio.)

Wary the wizard who focuses on homebrew, for he can create nightmares that you wouldn't even dream of
