Since Mystic Odyssey of Theros came out, Satyr is now an official playable race! Since I tend to roleplay my character as Autistic since I am Autistic (even unintentionally at times), do you think that an Autistic Satyr might be a good character concept? Since satyrs are extroverted by nature, could an Autistic satyr who is somewhat introverted be an outcast, thus giving them a reason for adventure? I think it might work. If I end up creating an autistic satyr, I might choose either druid, archfey warlock, light domain cleric (my favorite domain), grave domain cleric, ranger, or rogue.
Do you think this would be an interesting character concept? Of course I wouldn't make that the only thing unique about my character's personality/identity, but what do you guys think?
Sorry if this is in the wrong category. I am somewhat new to the forums. If this is the wrong category, I won't complain if this post is moved.
I think it sounds like an interesting character. I might go with Archfey warlock so your satyr has a patron and maybe a familiar who understand that he likes his environment a certain way and maybe can help him navigate social situations. You can be as introverted as you like; if you have a pseudodragon on your shoulder people are always going to want to come talk to you!
It's not about what we think would be a good character concept, it's about whether you'd enjoy playing the character.
As another person on the spectrum, I think it makes sense if you have a satyr who doesn't like the noise and revelry that most satyrs thrive in to become an adventurer so they can spend more time away from large groups.

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.

Archfey warlock does make sense because satyrs are fey. I might need to work on stuff like who is the character's patron, where did they meet their patron, and what kind of relationship did they have with their patron? I am also unsure to decide if the satyr is from they feywild or not.
As for the pseudodragon, I am pretty sure that people won't get too excited if somebody owned had one as a pet. I think a pseudodragon would most likely be considered a high-end exotic pet.

Hello! I also am on the Autism Spectrum, and have actually been playing a satyr who was also on the spectrum. She is an Undead Warlock (from the most recent Unearthed Arcana), who made a pact with Thanatos (Death). She doesn't display her emotions outwardly easily, and has difficulties communicating with the other party members.

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
I'll probably catch hell for this but, maybe it could be healthy(and fun) to play something you're not. If you are timid and fearful, play a character that is outgoing and brave. If you are a logical planner, play a chaotic free spirit who acts on the moment. I'm not putting down your idea in the least. I see the game as an opportunity to try something different, not necessarily to mirror my real life self in a fantasy setting.

I usually end up mirroring my IRL self in one way or another because of laziness. Though I might end up trying extroverted characters in the future.

I totally agree. A piece of you is a lot different(and more imaginative in my opinion) than, "I'm playing myself but, I'm an Elf now".

Then there's no problem with playing someone on the Autism Spectrum if you have it. That's just a piece of your character. I'm not a satyr, and I'm not female, but I have been playing a female satyr who is on the Autism Spectrum who is way different from me than most of my other characters.
