So a Baelnorn is a "good" elven lich and liches can act as patrons. Yet somehow it doesn't feel right to lump them in with the Undead/Undying subclasses. Could they act as a Celestial patron?
Thematically, I'm creating a half elf warlock whose patron is a Baelnorn who was an elven bladesinger in life. Would Celestial work or should I homebrew a new patron subclass?
OK, I'm a tad late to this one and basing this off 2014 rules/subclass features but given you mention the patron is/was a Bladesinger in life then I would likely go for Hexblade and flavour things like hex/hexblades curse as a version of the Blade Song and the Accursed Specter feature summoning a splinter of the Baelnorn back to the world then you can go pact of the blade if you want to lean into a bladesinging fighting style or pact of tome for a more wizardly/scholarly or even bardic mode.

I think celestial could make sense. But, as always, check with your DM.
