So. Way back in the day at the beginning of the physical world, I was a celestial body. and as I'm floating around one day I come across some gods partying it up and decide to go mess with them. Obviously they don't like that so a couple of the magically inclined ones work for weeks in secret while everyone else is dealing with my bullshit and trap me in the mortal world forever being reincarnated as a mortal unless I can figure out a way to break the curse.
So the power I draw on is actually that of my own power as a once celestial body.
I like it, so Im guessing everytime you reincarnate you have amnesia? Forgetting you were once this mighty celestial ******* and every so often (ie level up) you remember a bit more of your power. Good RP possibilities too, if you remember a bit more about your former lives and there is always that one memory that seems to strange to be true of you being an all powerful celestial, so you write it off as this is your patron and not actually you!
The soul was removed from the body and is periodically reincarnated in a human body. The body of the god (in this case it was a moon) is still there, and the reincarnation is inexorably drawn towards it. In that particular circumstance they did not have any memories per se, but always felt drawn to stare at the moon, not knowing why.
Maybe your celestial body comes through periodically (Haley's Comet?) and it triggers your reincarnation, or when it comes close it begins to send visions to you of what you once were. I would wonder if certain creatures like the Star Spawn Grue or other Star Spawn would have some recognition, or perhaps just be drawn to you.

"Where words fail, swords prevail. Where blood is spilled, my cup is filled" -Cartaphilus
"I have found the answer to the meaning of life. You ask me what the answer is? You already know what the answer to life is. You fear it more than the strike of a viper, the ravages of disease, the ire of a lover. The answer is always death. But death is a gentle mistress with a sweet embrace, and you owe her a debt of restitution. Life is not a gift, it is a loan."
I actually had a similar concept for such a Warlock.
The only difference was, he was a fragment of a star, that had become separated from the actual celestial source (in this case, a horribly malevolent star, and the fragment developed a comparably more innocent personality).
It worked, because the "levelling" was the Warlock gradually gaining back more and more power from the source, and using it to rebel against the evil star. This was because the Warlock had gained empathy for the Material Plane and its inhabitants, and did not wish to see it devoured.
A fun character, who I named Oddling or "Odd". He'd provide peculiar insights into people around him, frequently do unusual things like walking on walls, float, speak into people's heads, and ominously talk about how he's afraid of himself, because the "star" part of himself hungers in his dreams.
But he's actually just a really nice guy who wants to help people.
He was also a changeling, because he has no true sense of "self".

From Within Chaos Comes Order!
I love that idea, it's creative and will be a ton of fun to play!

This makes me think of Legend of the Dragoon.

If it is from a celestial body does it not make more sense to be a celestial warlock than GOO?
After joining more my signature got out of hand so I am now a proud member of the extended signature club!! :)
Think he means more of a Comet or Star then a Celestial’s Body. That’s what they’re called.
if I’m inferring your question right. Sorry if I just said something you happen to be an expert at.
Extended Signature! Yay! https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/off-topic/adohands-kitchen/3153-extended-signature-thread?page=2#c21
Haven’t used this account in forever. Still a big fan of crawling claws.
