so i'm starting a campaign at 5th lvl obviously as a warlock and my DM approved me playing a changeling. now being a fiend lock and with point buy i am really tempted to pick up the feat Moderately Armored to get more AC and access to shields ( i know hexblade is way better but yeah...) while it would be a massive bump in AC and survivability, having 20 charisma at lvl 5 is also really nice
any advice would be appreciated because i dont know what to pick at this moment
What is your role you want to fill? If you're a melee bladelock without another tank in the group, I'd go with the medium armor. If your group needs more control options or AoE dmg, CHA seems like the way to go. It depends a lot on your group set up and what niche you want to fill. Also make sure you have the money to buy half-plate if you're interested in going for medium armor.
the party consists of a barbarian, eldritch knight and a artificer and we are gonna play tyranny of dragons. i just feel like 13ac is quite low and i could easily bump it up with 1 feat but then i would have to wait till 8 that i can cap it. and my role is mostly blasting EB and playing control/utility with rituals and stuff
Warlocks have the invocation Armor of Shadows, which gives you At-Will Mage Armor (13+Dex). At 5th level you get 3 Invocations, so you could easily pick that up, and then swap it out later, depending on how things go.
Generally speaking, Eldritch Blast/Utility is a ranged role, so you'd be better off focusing on evasion, rather than deflecting hits. Speed, hiding, flight, cover, imposing disadvantage, etc.
At low levels, Fiendish Vigor lets you take a hit and shrug it off. At high levels, you're going to get hit a lot, if you present a target.
its 13 (+1) and i got my 3 invocations as book of ancient shadows for rituals and devil sight for RP/story reasons so i picked agonizing blast for damage
If you are allowed to take UA feats, I would suggest considering Eldritch Adept (UA).
Devil Sight + Darkness are a great Combat combo that makes AC less important. Taking Eldritch Adept now will let you have an AC of 14, which you can swap out later for a more potent ability like Ascendant Step down the road. At-Will Levitation will let you stay out of melee range altogether. If you expect to be facing dragons, a major concern is going to be resistance to elemental damage and Saving Throws against breath weapons, so investing a feat into AC really isn't ideal, unless you're planning to tank.
If you can't take Eldritch Adept, you might even consider Magic Initiate. Since you are going to Utility route, having more spells/cantrips is always helpful.
TL;DR: The best defense is a strong offense. Let your party take the hits and focus on filling your role to the best of your ability.
Seeing as your role tends towards DMG and utility/support, I would also advise to max your CHA. Since you're a changeling if I'm not wrong it also works well with generally being good at talking, which your other party members likely aren't. If possible, consider distributing more of your start points into dexterity. An AC of 13 makes you an easy target, no matter how big your frontline. Darkness+ Devil's Sight also becomes more potent in denying hits if your AC is higher
You should probably prioritize your stats in this order CHA > DEX > CON > Else. Maybe your artificer can help you in buffing your armor? Talk with them what their strategy will be. The Warlock is great at filling many niches.

I'd max CHA. It improves your hit chance and damage, and can work outside of combat as well.
