You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
You can use an action to cause thick, black poison to coat the blade. The poison remains for 1 minute or until an attack using this weapon hits a creature. That creature must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or take 2d10 poison damage and become poisoned for 1 minute. The dagger can't be used this way again until the next dawn.
Proficiency with a Dagger allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Nick. When you make the extra attack of the Light property, you can make it as part of the Attack action instead of as a Bonus Action. You can make this extra attack only once per turn.
Notes: Bonus: Magic, Damage: Poison, Poisoned, Damage, Debuff, Combat, Finesse, Light, Thrown, Nick
One of my players wanted this as a starting weapon and I allowed it and I'm never making that mistake again.
nice
Somebody in my campaign obtained it illegally but then they died and I got to steal one weapon which was ofc this. I was level 1
hi
quite bad for a rare item, 1/day effect, the poisoned condition is nice in battle debuff but after level 9 its becomes hard to not beat dc 15
just not scalable which is sad
by official rules only weapon damage is doubled, any addons are not (and this poison damage is addon), but I have never seen a group using this rule at the table lol, everyone just doubles everything
It is doubled. According to the PHB, the player's modifier gets added flat, but any additional damage dice are doubled. I would definitely think the 2d10 for poison damage applies.
"For example, if you score a critical hit with a dagger, roll 2d4 for the damage, rather than 1d4, and then add your relevant ability modifier. If the attack involves other damage dice, such as from the rogue’s Sneak Attack feature, you roll those dice twice as well."

"Rouge" is a reddish-pink color, and a type of powdered makeup of that color which is used on cheeks to make them appear rosy.
"Rogue" is a D&D class for a sneaky & deceptive person.
What would be a good curse to put on this
how do you get it?
The damage from the poison comes from the saving throw, not the attack, so it does not crit.
I think most people who think the weapon is good don't understand the fact the extra damage is tied to the saving throw.
Daggers aren't very good in the first place. The effect should have been a bonus action, having to use an action for the maybe not very high possibility of having extra damage and poisoned condition is bad. Or make the damage part of the attack when hit and the condition remains as the saving throw, still wouldn't be great but a lot better.
something
Because they have GREAT DMs
homebrew Virulent weapon from Pathfinder. Homebrew Concentrate Poison from Pathfinder. Pathfinder has amazing poisoner build options.
My dm's letting my character use this given she has one in her home for backstory reasons. Only condition is she can only use it on the main antag for this chapter.
Agreed! I especially don't think it warrants being rare as it is written. It's a one shot +1 dagger really (one shot for the extra damage), and needing an action to activate it is a bit too much action economy in my opinion. Guess it's really for getting a surprise round and using your surprise round to get a magic dagger coated in poison
Does it have the same stats as a normal dagger when without venom?
