Ring, rare (requires attunement)
While wearing this ring, you can use an action to speak its command word. When you do so, you can see into and through solid matter for 1 minute. This vision has a radius of 30 feet. To you, solid objects within that radius appear transparent and don't prevent light from passing through them. The vision can penetrate 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal, or up to 3 feet of wood or dirt. Thicker substances block the vision, as does a thin sheet of lead.
Whenever you use the ring again before taking a long rest, you must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or gain one level of exhaustion.

Posted May 20, 2022Water doesn't block sight normally unless it's particularly murky.
In that case it'd make sense for the ring to let you see through 30 feet of murky water as if it were clear. But it's a DM ruling question for sure.

Posted Jul 26, 2022I am confused. If I am trying to see the contents of a chest or vault, does this make both the chest AND the objects within transparent? Is there some discretion on what is made transparentor do you just have ot stand 29 feet and 11 inches away form the chest to see what it contains?

Posted Jan 28, 2023Blindsight does not allow you to see through solid objects. With this ring, you could target a location, creature, or object behind total cover with a spell or ability that requires you to see the target. Like Misty Step, or Hold Person.

Posted Jul 11, 2024Rare items have a value between 501gp and 5000gp according to the DMG. In my case I just plug those numbers into a random number generator and go with whatever number pops up.
Value seems too low? Maybe the seller isn't 100% sure it's real so they're selling it for less, or perhaps they were once an adventurer themselves and are selling off their old collection at a discount to support up and coming adventurers.
Value seems to high? Maybe the seller is a con artist who intentionally inflates the cost of their goods. Or what if the item has strong sentimental value and they'll only sell it for a sizeable markup.
