This item appears to be a longsword hilt. While grasping the hilt, you can use a bonus action to cause a blade of pure radiance to spring into existence, or make the blade disappear. While the blade exists, this magic longsword has the finesse property. If you are proficient with shortswords or longswords, you are proficient with the sun blade.
You gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this weapon, which deals radiant damage instead of slashing damage. When you hit an undead with it, that target takes an extra 1d8 radiant damage.
The sword's luminous blade emits bright light in a 15-foot radius and dim light for an additional 15 feet. The light is sunlight. While the blade persists, you can use an action to expand or reduce its radius of bright and dim light by 5 feet each, to a maximum of 30 feet each or a minimum of 10 feet each.
Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.
Notes: Bonus: Magic, Damage: Radiant, Replace Damage Type: Radiant, Weapon Property: Finesse, Damage, Combat, Versatile, Sap

Posted Jun 18, 2020Yeah, it's definitely a lightsaber. I thought flame blade seemed a lot like one, but this is just a replica. That's awesome. (Wish it came in different colors though.)

Posted Jul 30, 2020I don't see anywhere that says the luminous blade is any particular color. And even if it did, you absolutely should tint the blade to the color that makes it the most awesome for you.

Posted Aug 17, 2020@dndbeyond, is there any way you can count this as a shortsword and a longsword in your items? Trying to equip this to my monk that is only proficient with shortswords and I cannot override the proficiency. I'm having to go in and manually override the -to hit bonus, etc every time I open the character page and its a pain.

Posted Nov 29, 2020Unless you're a kensai that took longsword as one of your kensai weapons. It'd be GREAT for those select few.
