Posted Jun 6, 2021It's actually simple enough to do, on your homebrewed magic item, in Basic Information you specify the weapon you want as base, then:
- Add a modifier
-> Bonus Type, select "Bonus"
-> Modifier Subtype, select "Magic Item Attack With Charisma"
-> In "Ability Score", I specified "CHA". Might be necessary, might not be, I have no idea.
After a bit of checking, what this seems to do is replace your strength modifier with charisma if it's higher, otherwise it'll use your strength modifier.
There might be a simpler way than creating item individually, but I'm not aware of it, and since i don't play 5e anymore, I'm not as much on dndbeyond.

Posted Dec 10, 2021Hi, I’m following your instructions but seem unable to apply this to a rapier. Interestingly though, when I equipped your weapon to the character alongside my homebrew weapon, mine changes to use cha.
I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.
modifer type: bonus
modifier sub type: magical item with cha
ability score: cha

Posted Dec 10, 2021I'm sorry, as i said, i don't play 5e anymore, so i can't help much. I don't think i did any more than that though, so what you did should work.
