Innate Spellcasting. The valkyrie's spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 19). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:
At will: detect evil and good, invisibility(self only)
3/day each: staggering smite, dispel evil and good, wall of ice
1/day each: mass cure wounds, plane shift
Cosmic Weapons. The valkyrie's weapon attacks are magical. When it hits with any weapon, the weapon deals an extra 4d8 force damage. (Included in the attack.)
Ethereal Presence. The celestial can see and interact with creatures on the ethereal and material planes at the same time, provided it is on either of those planes.
Magical Resistance. The valkyrie has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Multiattack. The valkyrie makes two greasword attacks, or two javelin attacks.
Greatsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +12 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 22 (4d6 + 8) slashing damage plus 22 (4d8) force damage.
Light Javelin. RangedSpell Attack: +10 to hit, range 30/120 ft., one target. Hit: 18 (4d6 + 4) radiant damage
Aurora Borealis (1/Day). The valkyrie creates a circle of multicolored light with a 20-foot-radius at a point it can see 120 feet away. Creatures within the circle must make a DC 20 Constitution saving throw. A creature takes 35 (10d6) radiant damage and 35 (10d6) cold damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. If a creature that is not on its home plane fails the save, it is banished to its plane of origin. The creature must succeed on a DC 19 Charisma saving throw at the end of its next turn to end the banishment, or be unable to leave that plane for 24 hours.
Chosen Soul. The valkyrie chooses up to four creatures that possess souls. For the next 24 hours, the creatures are immune to effects that would destroy or imprison their soul (such as the use of a lich's phylactery) or effects that would take the soul to an afterlife which it would not normally go to after death (such as being killed by hellfire).
Valorous Dead. Unless the valkyrie is incapacitated, it may target a non-evil aligned creature that died no longer than 24 hours ago. The soul of the creature manifests as a holy spirit warrior that fights by the celestial's side. The spirit warrior retains their Intelligence, Charisma, and Wisdom scores as well as their alignment, but uses the stat blocks of a Sword Wraith Warrior. The valkyrie can have up to five spirit warriors summoned at a time.
Parry. The valkyrie adds 6 to its AC against one melee attack that would hit it. To do so, the valkyrie must see the attacker and be wielding a melee weapon.
Description
The souls of mortals have long been lusted after by entities with sinister intent. Some, such as the devils of the Nine Hells tempt mortals into acts of evil, to let their souls go to their realm naturally. But many take souls by forces and by no choice of the mortals they victimize. It is the duty of the valkyrie to prevent these horrid acts and safeguard the free will of those who would have it stripped from them.
The valkyrie are celestial warriors from the Upper Planes. They resemble humanoid women, stand around twelve feet tall, and have wings of multicoloured light on their backs. They wear intricate, crystalline armour and are never without their favored weapon. They take pleasure in combat, and will engage in friendly combat with worthy combatants and other valkyries when not engaged in their eternal mission.
These celestials hunt for occurrences that go against the natural order of death. They search the Ethereal and Material Planes for restless ghosts and doomed specters and guides them to their proper afterlife. They seek out devils operating in the mortal realms who attempt to claim creatures through infernal contracts and banish them back to the Hells.
The valkeyrie prefer to work alone, but should they encounter a threat beyond their power, they will seek allies in good-hearted warriors. Many powerful liches and demon princes that have preyed upon people for generations have met their end due to the machinations of a valkeyrie and the worthy mortals that fight beside her.
