While trapped in this way, the target is blinded and restrained, has total cover from an attacks and other effects outside the snaptrap, and takes 5 (2d4) acid damage at the start of each of the target's turns. If the snaptrap dies, the creature inside it is no longer restrained by it. While it is engulfed, the snaptrap can't engulf or bite another target.

Description

Some jungles, forests, and swamps contain rare carnivorous plants with jaws that snap closed around hapless prey.  An awakened snaptrap is an ordinary shrub given sentience and mobility by the awaken spell or similar magic. When awakened, these plants can serve as capable sentinels or as a convenient place to dispose of flesh.
