Keen Hearing. The Atroxaurus has advantage on Perception (Wisdom) checks that rely on hearing.
Multiattack. The atroxaurus makes two claw attacks and a poison dart attack.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 12 (2d6 + 5) slashing damage and the target is grappled (escape DC 18). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained, and the atroxaurus can only attack other targets with one claw attack.
Poison Dart (recharge 5-6). Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, range 20/60 ft., 1 target. Hit: 5 (1d4 + 2) piercing damage and the target must make a DC 17 Constitution saving throw, taking 9 (2d8) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. Also on a failure, roll 3d8: If the total equals or exceeds the target’s Strength score, that score is reduced to 10 if it was higher than 10. The target is considered poisoned until it manages to succeed on a Constitution saving throw, which it can retry at the end of every turn.
Description
Tall muscular saurian humanoid, atroxaurus are as deadly as they are colorful. They fight ferociously against weaker foes and use cunning and stealth against more powerful enemies.
Most atroxaurus live in reclusive tribes deep within jungles or marshlands, as their aggressive tendencies tend to alienate them from the more civilized races.
The Almight Matriarch. Each atroxaurus tribe is led by the fiercest, meanest, strongest female. Amongst smaller tribes, the matriarch is the only one with the right to bear children, with any egg laid by another female eaten by the tribe.
A female atroxaurus can lay one egg a month and a matriarch usually tends to let a different male fertilize her egg from one month to another.
In bigger tribes, a matriarch can attribute birthing rights to a few of her fellow tribeswomen, often her strongest children.
Colorful Feathers. Some atroxaurus family lines are recognizable to the color of their feathers. Metallic colors, such as gold and platinum are known to be associated with particularly strong family lines.
Large atroxaurus feathers are often prized by wealthy hunters, artisans and scribes, with some believing that some colors can have special properties.
